I figured it our, it's the bezel cuts...

I was wondering why my 16600 (200ish Sea Dweller) shines the way it does, it the aluminum bezel that really makes this watch pop. For me it would be difficult to go to ceramic.

Are you meaning the cuts as it the ‘fluting’ around the bezel?

Yes am I mistaken and it is not aluminum?

I have seen more modern "bezels" and they do not appear as bright.

The bezel is steel, the bezel insert is aluminum. Moreover, the bezel itself should be less shiny than a modern Sub since the 16600 bezel is all brushed, whereas the Subs have polished sections.

I had a 16600 for years, and I don't remember it being particularly "brighter" than my modern Subs, Deepsea, etc.

I agree. That ‘serated’ edge, or the fluting around the bezel on the 5 digit Submariners just seems to really catch light. I don’t know what it is, but it’s bright and really catching, especially from a distance and is one of the first things that pulls me to notice someone wear one (other than bracelet)
