SS more Popular than PM. Why?

Is it the price point? Or the fact that PM is more for dress watches and not day to day? I guess this explains why Ads only have PM pieces in their cases.

Fashion trends. It’s not just with Rolex but all high end manufacturers.
I think price point is a factor but not as much as the white metal look is very fashionable now. Look at Patek and you will find price has nothing to do with popularity. Even in PM models the white gold and platinum are more popular than their yellow counterparts.

Mostly because it’s cheaper. Partly because it’s more hyped.

I'd rather spend the extra cost on a higher end piece. PM is just jewelry to me.

SS appears to get all the hype, and IMO is probably based on the relative affordability vs PM.

Price. List every Daytona at the same $13,000. Suddenly there will be huge waiting lists for the Platona.

Price.

Here’s proof remember the 116719blro in WG? It’s purple it’s so purple how can anyone ever own it we’re many of the comments here. Rolex brings it out in the 126710blro and everyone must have one even when the bezel was exact as the WG before these so called new marks.

Mainly cost. I don't object to a bit of TT or PM. But I have other things to spend PM money on.

Price point.

Many people today are having to justify paying the prices to acquire high end luxury jewelry.

Personally I buy movements, precious metals for a case look pretty but do not add anything to the performance of the watch for me.

SS more Popular than PM. Why?

Price. But also the perception that stainless steel watches are more durable and truer to the tool watch concept. In addition, some buyers prefer the fact that stainless steel is lighter on the wrist.

I agree with price, even with as expensive as steel is most could still justify it...whereas the PM pieces are considerably more expensive.

I have read that some ADs require customers to spend well above the price of a SS on other things (other models or jewelry) in order to get them on a “list” for a SS. I can’t justify that. I rather own a PM piece I like than buy tons of other things I don’t like in the hopes of getting a SS. Just my opinion.

Price of course as you already knew. Certainly personal preferences figure into the equation but ultimately it’s price.
Me, just doesn’t fit my style and fashion sense to wear PM....but again it’s price. I have spent PM money many times over in my 30+ years of buying watches but I would/will always prefer having several SS watches versus one PM for the same amount of money.

It’s just because it’s cheaper, and for US ,and UK a lot feel uncomfortable wearing PM.

I’d say price of course but also maybe the potential to hold up to wear and tear better

Its the price point with Rolex. But SS of late is more popular than PM in high level brands also. That is not about price but preference. Why I have no clue. I would take a PM watch over SS in any brand all day long.

You wear a gold watch down the pub and you may attract the wrong sort of attention...also you may be more self-conscious that you are carrying £20-60 grand on your wrist.

1. Price
2. Style - SS has been historically associated a sports / casual , and this trend has only become more common.
3. Price
