eyestrain and using a loupe

question for our watchmakers: 1) is it true that keeping both eyes open while using a loupe reduces eyestrain?

Short answer. Yes
While its really down to preference, many find there is less strain on your eye (the one not in the eyeglass) if you keep it open.
