Philippe Dufour shares why and how he bought his Pepsi GMT Master II in an interview

It is interesting to know how a legend watch-maker shares his method to buy his Rolex.

2 month wait for a BLRO with no prior history. Lucky him.

I see his other favourite brand is Nomos.

imagine when his name cropped up on the waiting list - someone at the store must have picked it up

I watched the interview when released, and I’m sure his name had some clout, as it should !

The whole time I was viewing, couldn’t stop thinking about how it was finally good to see Mosso without those goofy glasses on his head ! Hard to take an adult seriously with those 1982 green cycling glasses on their head backwards like an 8 year old.

Let’s face it - Tim is a weird bloke. Can you respect someone that goes about his life looking like that?

Tim is brilliant and knows his stuff - I’ve had a few opportunities in person to talk watches with him. So yes, he gets my respect. Nothing wrong with being different.

Nice interview. Cool that he recommends Rolex and Nomos to people getting their first high-end watch.

He's a world-famous watchmaker, especially in Switzerland.

Well, technically, he was on the waiting list, although he didn't have to wait as long as some.

It should be noted that he didn't ask to go to the front of the line or go to see the local grey dealer, either.

Also, he's a man whose opinion impresses me more than all the musicians, golfers, tennis players, and fighter pilots in the universe.

Rolex SA: Yes, Mr. Dufour. Unfortunately we’ve been getting a lot of requests for that watch. Would you be interested in this diamond Pearlmaster for the lady in your life? If so, you would be considered a priority client on our GMT waiting list.

I really like to listen or read his interviews.
He is not selling heritage stories created by marketing teams.

Every interview I read he always recommends both Rolex and Nomons to beginners collectors for their quality.

He also wears Lange and flies drone, which is super cool.

You’re kidding right? He puts his name in a store like a “regular” person and gets his BLRO in 2 months...

OK...

We should all be able to get our SS sports watches in 2 months then!

I don't know, but maybe there might be some slight chance someone from the staff recognized one of the world most famous watchmakers and put him in the VIP line.

The biggest compliment that Rolex ever can get, approved by Mr. F. Dufour

Truth bomb right there! I'm glad he didn't ask to go to the front of the line. I'm pretty sure if he'd contacted Rolex HQ directly, they'd have hooked him up. I'm also pretty sure he's well enough off to have picked up his BLRO from a EU Grey if he wanted. Very cool he did it the old school way.
