This isn't a watch I've looked at or did any research on, so my apologies for asking what's so humorous? Is it the pure number of them available on the secondary market? The price?
I'm guessing this must be a "rare" model that is difficult or impossible to get from an AD. Assuming that's the case, I don't know what further evidence there needs to be that many "hot model" watches continue to be sold to the wrong people (i.e., flippers), or they're being sold out the back door into the secondary market. I can't say I am a huge fan of all of this, but it also allows people that want the watch to get it (and at very little premium). It's a double-edged sword in my view. |

There’s a substantial premium on this one, unlike the 15500, Chronos, and most PCs where the premium is quite small and even in some cases less than retail + tax. I am pretty new to AP, certainly in comparison to many people on this board, but I genuinely think this watch is super hard to get. I absolutely love this watch and would be over the moon to get an opportunity to buy one. Someone with greater knowledge would need to comment how truly difficult this one is. And they don’t make a heck of a lot. To see this many out there, at a premium, not moving is a bit nuts. A lot of gray dealers going to get burnt. That part I don’t find humorous. I love my gray contacts. But I do find humor in this situation. So many brand new watches apparently bought by enthusiasts and moved directly to turn a quick buck. I can’t imagine what AP must think of this scenario.

Honestly I think this model was created to help clear out the RO chrono movements before releasing an in-house version
The market works in weird ways, this one should be hot |

Exactly what I was thinking when it was released. Also think this is a sort of transition model for whatever the new movement and new 42 line might be when released at SIHH. Not sure why the premiums on this one - it didn’t seem to get much traction. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I love chronographs and actually use them quite often for work and other stuff that you have to have OCD to appreciate. I have had two of the 39mm APs, I think it was 26300, and they are virtually illegible and the screw down crowns make them useless for timing events unless you have five minutes advance warning.
Royal Oak chronographs were never popular until recently when buyers found they couldn't get the 15400 or 15500 that they really wanted. When the craze for stainless watches ebbs the first casualties will be watches like the ROC which were buyer's "second choice". So, yes, superdog, this is humorous. I bought this one and didn’t bond with it. I sold it directly to my buddy that works with me for MSRP. Nothing more nothing less.

A lot of "ghost" listings with stock photos. Actual supply is less than the number of listings.

Okay. Not so funny anymore.
10x that actually. Content and a new thread to follow. Simply because this one deserves its own thread.

It's an awesome piece, I had a chance to check it out and was on the list for it, but in reality I realized it wouldn't get much wrist time for me. It's pretty remarkable as to how light it is.

I think manufacturers are enjoying the watch bubble by restricting supply, it won't burst unless a recession hits and all resellers start dumping their stock for cash.
