GMT Sertir Dial with Purple Gems?
Hi folks. My first post. Just have a question. Looking at a GMT Master II Root-beer (16713) with a Sertir dial. The dial itself is a light silver, almost the same color of the stainless portions of the watch itself. This is a color I don’t see too often on the GMT Root-beer. Also, this particular dial doesn’t have the usual rubies at the 6, 9 and 12 hour positions. Instead it has purple gems. Amethyst? Is this a custom, non-Rolex dial? Or is this a Rolex bespoke dial option the original purchaser ordered to be manufactured as such by Rolex? Any thoughts?

I think the Serti RB only cane with rubies and diamonds like this (not my pic)
The rubies may appear dark in dim lighting, but get it outside and they will brighten up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ah ha. Yeah. The reputable company I’m considering buying from has VERY well lit sales photos. I’m beginning to see purple hues in these rubies in the photo you posted with nominally bright lighting. And yes, that’s the dial color I was referring too.
I think this answers my question. It’s the lighting of the photos. |

There are a lot of aftermarket serti dials out there and the only way to know for certain if the dial came OEM with the watch is if they have the paperwork? One could have also purchased a factory Serti dial and added it after the fact but that is harder to prove authenticity without some receipt. Even without paperwork, it wouldn’t bother me if it was what you liked and at a reasonable price.
