Excited for tomorrow

I'm really excited for tomorrow when I will be getting my Submariner.

I have been on a waitlist since March of last year with no sign of getting 'the call'. All my friends and workmates know I have been trying to buy one and all have been trying to help me.

Today, one of my work colleagues got a call from an AD to say his Submariner had arrived, he had already got another sub a couple of months ago and immediately asked me if I wanted this one.

I jumped at the chance and tomorrow he will buy and immediately hand it over to me at msrp.

I won't have my name on the warranty card but couldnt care less, I am not going to be selling this watch ever and the next owner will be my son.

Can't wait.

Congrats! No chance you can go with him and get your name on the card?

Tried that today. Unless he buys it in his name they won't sell it to him!

I'm a Rolex fanboy, but that kind of business practice drives me nuts. Rolex SA doesn't care whose name is on the card, especially if the name is of a consumer who is not known for flipping watches. But you're dealing with Rolex UK, and UK loves rules. (As an airline pilot my least favorite country to go through security at is in the UK; Japan is a piece of cake compared to those guys.)

If I were you I'd pass on the Sub, let the corona virus impact the supply. It'll get better. At least you won't spend a lifetime being reminded that your watch will forever have someone else's name on it.

Yes there are a lot of fussy old bastards in this country for sure. Drives me crazy tbh.

That makes no sense. You’d think they’d prefer it the other way since they supposedly frown upon reselling. That’s basically him Reselling it you. They’re backwards lol

That is ridiculous that they will only sell to him. Oh well, congrats anyways!

Well done. Happy for you to be getting the watch. Once that card goes in the box, no one cares whose name is on it, especially under these circumstances where the watch is being handed to you right after being purchased.

Excited for tomorrow

Could he tell them it’s going to be a gift and that you’ll come in after the “party” and have it sized and card filled out?

In other words he leaves with the watch, box and all the rest - but leaves the card with them in blank form.

Congrats!

In today’s market, be happy to have the opportunity to buy a new Rolex at retail and enjoy it. Glad to hear a highly allocated sports model is going to someone that will cherish it and pass it on to the next generation.

Please post a post delivery update with photos.

Cheers!

Congrats for you! Can't understand what's the big deal AD won't sell it to you in this circumstance but it's really NBD for you anyway. What's important is your scoring your new Sub.. Enjoy your day and don't forget the pics when you can.

Who’d a thunk that this would become a relatively rare occurrence! Congratulations, I love the Sub.

I recently bought a YM from my AD and told him that it was going to be a gift for my brother and I wanted his name on the card. It could have been a gift for my brother-in-law and he would not have cared as long as I was paying for it. I guess it also depends on the relationship with the AD.

I would prefer my name on the card but if you can't wait what give, congratulations, waiting to see it on your wrist.
