Rolex availability before discontinuation
Hi, so I have a question for the forum about SS availability at present.
It seems that quite a few members have been allocated the submariner 114060 over the last few months. Its fantastic to see so many people enjoying wearing this fantastic watch but its raised a few questions for me. Do you think that this is a sign that rolex may be sending stock to ADs of this model to sell the models before a discontinuation at this years basel? I guess the only other similar SS model that has been discontinued in the modern era of waiting lists and allocation pieces (starting around 2017) was the 116710LN in production from 2007-2018. Was there a big increase in people on waiting lists receiving allocation of the 116710LN in the months leading up to basel as rolex were using up their stock or do rolex plan discontinuation years in advance to stagger their stock release so they do not need to send big batches of the watch to ADs in the few months before basel? Looking forward to your thoughts! |

Grey market saturation means ADs are selling more to people who have shown interest or putting them in their cases and walk-ins are getting them.

I don’t think they are sending additional stock to use up existing stock with this reference. The 114060 is the newest reference out of all the 6 digit Subs as well, so probably least likely to be updated first.

Do you think the 114060 update may then go in the direction of the previous model when the 14060 was updated to the 14060M with the new movement?
Also the 16610LV was only in production for 7 years, so although the 114060 has only been in production since 2012 it may be updated even as a newer model. Although I agree that I think rolex would be far more likely to update a two tone or full PM sub first |
