Any drawbacks to buying "new" D serial 16613?
I am considering buying a "new" D serial 16613 bluesy circa 2006. Other than the immediate depreciation hit, are there drawbacks in buying a 3 year old watch that hasn't been running all the time perhaps? I am concerned about the reliability. Also, can anyone tell me what the difference between a "D" serial versus "F" and "Z"? What advances were made with each year? Was "D" the last time they put the hologram sticker on the back? Thanks in advance.

Hey, where did that price history link go?
I agree, a new D from an AD should be less than $6,000, maybe even less than $5,500.

Here we go: http://www.minus4plus6.com/PriceEvolution.htm
So when the AD bought that watch, MSRP was either $7,100 or $7,825, meaning the AD paid between $5,000 and $5,500, maybe even less. It would have to be under $6K or I wouldn't even touch it!

Re: hologram sticker, you guys are hilarious!! That's why I love this forum. I would take it off immediately, but carefully, and store it on wax paper.
Thank You for all of your input. Price is around $5500 but from non-AD. If anyone thinks this is a bad deal please let me know. |

Should that be correct, then their cost is $4,260 to $4,695. So $5K -$5.5K is appropriate for a reasonable profit on a watch they have sat on for 2-3 years.

So how much do D serials normally go for used? From very good to mint condition.
