Platinum DD40 or 5711

Quick would you rather. Both are around the same price.

Have you tried on a SS 5711? It feels very flimsy to me and does not feel like a watch that you would pay upwards of $30k to me honestly. RG one maybe a little different.

I'd choose a DD over a SS 5711 anyday of the week.

DD, no contest. 5711 is a nice watch but hugely overrated and shouldn't be more than €18-20k for what it is IMO.

I’ve had a 5712 and two DDs, and this is easy — DD by a mile. If you have a big collection and just want a cool additional piece the 5711...

Yes, the 5711R is the better comparison.

This question is like asking do you want a simple house in the best neighborhood or the best house in a nice neighborhood.

I can't believe this is even a question... but they sell for similar prices..
I didn't love the 5711 at 20k when it was widely available in any AD showcase.. so I sure as heck don't love it at 60k+..

But that too will go the way of the Beanie Baby

The 5711 will feel like a cheap toy compared with the Daydate.

I think a lot of people have never held a steel 5711 in their hands. It is very underwhelming and therefore DD40 platinum.

The /1R on the other hand...

I wish they made the plat DD with a fluted bezel.... But from what I understand, they don't bc it's a tough metal to work with...?

No comparison except for price. The DD is robust and a tank. The 5711 is cool in the understated PP way but is not a Platinum watch from the Crown. Go try on the 5711 and then the DD and you will see what I mean.

I’ll take it a step farther and say, I’d go any modern DD over SS 5711

I would take 5711, but if platona vs 5711, platona!

Biased here, as I own one, but 5711.

DD is great, but it's a totally different conpcept.

It's like Mercedes vs Bentley, in many ways the Mercedes is superior, but it's no Bentley.
