Grand Seiko Enamel

Why does Seiko pump out enamel and porcelain dials for presage but not for GS? The presage enamels have horrible, busy asymmetrical dials , throw them onto any GS and you’d have a sure winner ? Are there any references maybe I’m unaware of ?

maybe they might eventually have it considering they have presages with enamel dials and a spring drive movement with those busy dials which i like as well as the credor eichi ii.

Yeah, totally agreed. I had an urushi Presage (same as the porcelain one just launched) with full gold and silver maki-e markers, numerals and dials. I sold it, though, as the humdrum movement and case (not to mention the gratuitous thickness) really undermined the beautiful dial. I'd have happily paid three times as much for something appropriate...

Japan is awash with unbelievable craftsmen and women doing the, frankly, incredible. They should be lauded and celebrated by GS, or at least in another sub-brand of similar quality.

So far, our only choices to celebrate Japanese porcelain are Presage or Eichi, and that's rather too much of a gulf.

An enamel dial GS would really be something to behold.

I’d definitely be on board with an enamel dial for GS. Let’s get this movement started.
