Icon3 Question about transitional “tritinova”

I’ve read during the late U serial watch, there is some rare tritinova dial , when Rolex transit form tritium to luminova. In1998 Rolex started to use luminova , but there’s still some T<25 dial left so they used the T<25 dial but putted luminova on , hence the tritinova name.

I’m purchasing a U serial Rolex(cause birth year) , wonder if tritinova adds up any value or is the traditional tritium better? since it will patina

Also I’m curios why this tritinova dial or Swiss only(1998-1999) dial have not been a collectible? For example the Fat 4 on 16610lv doubled the value or meter first on vintage Rolexes

Hope anyone can help me with some idea

Maybe one day it will.

Right now, everybody knows that 98/2000 models all have Swiss dials. They aren't rare, any model if it has the original dial has one.

All it does is tell you that the dial is proper for it's era, why would that be worth a premium?

U 1997 - 1998
U 1998

Well in some databases U s/n may be ‘97 or ‘98.

Just be wary of undocumented “watch only” deals.

Yes I had a later half ,97 "T" serial with a Trititum dial that was marked accordingly.
And then there was a '98 "U" serial with a dial marked as Tritium but it actually had Luminova.

Tritium adds no value to me.
When I want lume I want it to actually glow.

Some U serials have Tritium dials and luminova hands from dials being left over and hands that had already made the switch, being used extensively across models. Mismatching patina isn't something that concerns Rolex it seems as they would just replace down the road anyway. Also later tritium doesn't seem to patina as much anyway so it may not even be noticeable. Something to look out for if it concerns you.
Similar to green lume dials sometimes being paired with blue Chromalite hands when that came in.

IMHO that is a general issue with Luminova (including Superluminova). I think tritium is a far better luminous material even if it needs replacing every 10 to 15 years.
