Ready for desk diving

I have a designated daily wear (sea dweller) which I see myself wearing for the next few decades till retirement
I got myself a nato strap so there’s no more worrying to desk dive As much as I want to..(bracelet is going into the box)

What do you guys think? SD in bond NATO strap (Yay or nay). The side profile looks good, as I wore it with the single strap instead of the conventional double strap on the wrist.

Gmt master for smart casual / semi formal occasions
Seiko Alpinist as a all occasion beater or venturing to unsafe places/ countries

And I have a question, should I add a DJ fluted bezel jubilee bracelet white dial as a formal type watch. Taking in consideration I hardly attend real formal black tie sort of activity. And dinner (corporate or weddings) I could take the gmt ceramic Which looks good for the occasion with ceramic reflective bezel and polished centre links

My personal preference would be the nato hardware in brushed steel to match the watch, but it still looks very sharp.

I was looking for brushed steel hardware. But the store doesn’t have. So I turn to the black hardware. Actually it looks better than steel because the hardware blends in with the NATO color when seeing from a distance.

So looking from a distance the strap wraps around the wrist without the multiple metal hardware. Has a really uniform look

Not a fan of Nato on any modern day Rolex, Nato straps were mainly made for and used in military use to easily cut off and replace if needed, and doubtful if the real use will be used on today's mainly pampered Rolex watches.Picture below this is my personal own working very late 1990s tool SD, was used and sometimes abused for many many years underwater as a real working tool watch.This watch has seen more use and scratches than most of today's pampered Rolex watches will see in ten lifetimes.It has been serviced and polished by 3 different RSC world wide,picture taken in Singapore after last service quite a few years ago now. And watch plus movement and bracelet in almost perfect health after 20 odd years of quite hard use and still looks good today,and would expect it will be still ticking when my own ticker stops.And any every day scratches easily rectified at normal 5-10 year routine service.

Have you thought about using a Rubber-B or Everest strap instead of the Nato? It does look nice though.

My wrist is small and couldn’t wear some of the rubber straps.

Even at the smallest slot

The chamfers and bevelling so crisp and visible after three polishes :o

Yep. Just not on the bracelets. NATO and/or leather straps depending on the watch.

My style of watch from Rolex is the Rolex Explorer or the OP 39. So for me those watches go great on leather straps...

I have had several Rolex sports models that I wore on a NATO. I'm not really a sports watch person so don't buy that style anymore.

Rolex R & D took years of time,cccxxxxxxxxxxxź to say nothing of the huge sums of money and resources to create the Oyster and Jubilee bracelets. (And the President.)

I've always felt the bracelets were as much a part of the watch as the case or dial. Seamlessly integrated and beautiful to look at, as well as wonderfully very comfortable,999 replacing a factory Rolex bracelet seems wrong and unnecessary. Sure, a NATO on a Sub occasionally is probably a nice change once in a while but it's nothing when compared to, or looks as good, as the original factory designed bracelet.

To those that enjoy changing thing's up, by all means, configure your watch as please but I prefer my Rolex watches original.

I personally like the "used but not often abused" look of a daily worn watch, especially with a brushed bracelet. There's no way I would switch out for that reason. However I do put my Pelagos (similar use as your 'Dweller) on an Erika's Originals MN strap from time to time. Really lightens it up and is extremely comfortable. I especially like putting it for an active weekend hiking, mountain biking, swimming etc like I will tonight. If it's comfy and you like it, why not?

I think the NATO on your SD looks fine, although my preference for a Rolex is on their original metal bracelets.

Regarding the fluted DJ I think, from a collection standpoint, it will fit in nicely. From a practical standpoint, I agree with you that it will be unnecessary. Will just look nice in a watch box complementing the strong sport watches.

I have worn the same bond nato on my 14060 for years also with an 16600 when I had one. Great combo and looks really good!

Looks nice but I've always been a fan of the original steel bracelet. I was worried about scratches also on my 114060. After removing the very thin original protective plastic strip, I put on a thick piece of clear vinyl that is made to protect surfaces from marks & scratches. Can't even tell it's there. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy.

Very nice diverse opinions. I’ll probably switch the bracelet and nato occasionally.

The bracelet do feel better but I suppose it deserves to have a break in between
