Will modern OP or Date clasp fit an older 5 digit oyster date bracelet?

I posted in another thread about putting an easylink in my inherited 15223, 34mm two tone oyster perpetual date that’s around 20 years old. It seems that this won’t work.

My next question is if I can just source a modern clasp from one of the new 34mm oyster perpetuals or oyster perpetual dates, and just replace my current clasp. I can then find an easylink and complete the upgrade. Thanks.
