228235 Opinions from owners please...

Hi All

I am on the cusp of swapping my JLC, DJ41 and Tudor GMT for a new 228235 RG Olive
Roman numerals, + cash, of course. I will be very sorry to see these 3 go but the Day Date just sings to me so loudly but unfortunately I am not in a financial position to justify the DD Without selling the others.

Ramble over...any of you 228235 owners have any reservations about their watches...that would be helpful in my decision? Any thing I need to look out for?
Etc Thx in advance.

3 Watches + cash for 1 watch?

Hmmmm I dont think I would ever do that. Just wait until your finances are better in order.

How much $$$ on top of the watches?

Somewhere between 15-16k...so full retail on 228235 But ok offers on the 3 others. The offers I have received from Greys are a total joke.

I know what you mean about the saving up, that would be the logical thing but the impulse is so strong!!!

As a owner of multiple dd40s - yes they are extremely beautiful watches and the pinnacle of Rolex but I'm not 100% sure you would be satisfied selling 3+ watches + $16k on TOP for a single 228235.

Of course if you dont wear the 3 your trading in maybe its better to try to sell them yourself because as you mention I know gray dealers are going to absolutely rip you on those pieces. (well nowhere near what their asking prices are anyway).

If you still like them and they have some kind of sentimental value to them just save up for the 228235 and buy from grays. The RG DD40 has increased in price substaintially as well.

I bought both mine for $28k brand new. Now most 228235 are around the $33-34k and even higher for the Olive and Choco dials from the gray dealers.

It draws a lot of attention. Nothing in ss comes close so keep that in mind. I almost only wear mine with a suit.

The DD olive is a beautiful watch !! Sell your three watches and get the most for them. Be patient with the sales and your getting a amazing PM DD that looks amazing. Good luck !!

Worth it but only if prepared to wear the DD everyday. Mine only comes out on the weekends.

With the SS you’ll have left (assuming you have the ones in your signature still), I think you’ll be very happy with your decision! Enjoy that gorgeous DD! Just look out for compliments, and more people noticing your watch! Oh...practice good wrist awareness, don’t want to bang that bezel into any door frames.

The Sub and the DD will have you covering all bases, so yes, go for it!

Great watch and a big maybe on the trade. Three watches and that much cash would cause me to take pause. There are so many other options out there that I would find it hard to do it. I understand the draw of PM but by the time you take into account what you would loss on a trade or sale down the road it might be too much. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Rose gold with olive dial is very popular now. It used to be around $34000, now would be about $35000 or more. It seems like this pandemic cannot bring the price of luxury watches come down instead go opposite way.

I bought both of my RG ones a few years ago for $28k flat BNIB. You cant get any RG DD40 228235 ANY dial for under $32k now.

RG SkyD is also gone more crazy. Bought mine brand new for $33k. Now they are like $44k Plus.

I'd go for it. I sold a few watches to get my DD RG Olive dial. No regrets

Too much sacrifice, I would not do it. The DJ and DD are almost identical in design, I would not feel I did a good change but rather I would feel the absence of my 3 watches.

Trade the 3, drop some cash, get the DD, and wear it everyday. I love mine and most other watches just collect dust compared to the DD.

My AD is so kind to call me and view this lovely WG DD Olive Dial in flesh... The feel of the metal on the wrist is unexplainably satisfying. I’m in love with DD.

I would make that trade in a heartbeat. I could easily live with just my 228239. Quick collage of my collection below and if it had to be trimmed down to one it’d be the middle one every day. Nothing comes close imho.

Buy the best watch you can afford and wear it everyday. You will end up taking better care of it and will share great memories with it many years from now. You can't get that that experience with multiple watches.

Great move. The DD40 in rose gold with olive dial is a stunning stunning watch. People who haven't seen it in the flesh please do so. The combination is glorious.

Im in total love with mine :-)
