If you could change anything on the 126711 CHNR Rootbeer, what would it be?
With the Sept 1 new model releases on the horizon, I wonder if there's any possibility that Rolex would already make changes to the Rootbeer, after all, it only came out in 2018. However, one has to wonder...all other GMT Master II models have been transitioned over to the Jubilee bracelet, so maybe that's in the cards for the Rootbeer as well?
They have been consistent with black dials for the GMT Master II with the exception being the green and meteorite dials for the Yellow and White gold versions, so I doubt they will change the dial to any other color than black....then again, some vintage Rootbeer fans have been complaining that the current Rootbeer is not really a remake of the classic one since all they did was change half the bezel to brown. The rose gold was never on the original ones. I am pretty sure the Rootbeer will remain as it is for some time to come yet, but if you could change anything on the current watch, what would it be? Personally I can imagine a Jubilee bracelet and a sunburst brown dial. Would I prefer those over the current model? Tough to say, something I would have to see. Should one with brown sunburst and Jubilee come out before I get my Rootbeer, would I take it? Most likely! Your opinions? |

I'd want it to be the colours of the 1970s root beer: yellow gold, brown dial, brown and cream bezel. But Rolex has clearly decided that such a throwback look wouldn't sell well (and they're probably right). |

A glide lock instead of easy link.
I never need 5mm adjustments. 2mm is sufficient for the fluctuations of my wrist. With the glide lock, my wife could borrow it. |

I own one and don’t have a single thing I would want changed, not one.
I can’t imagine a J bracelet on this watch and sure wouldn’t want it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

I didn't even think of adding the glide lock to it, that's a great idea, I sure love the glidelock on my Sub, although the easylink on my DJ41 works quite well too.

Glidelock and 42 mm diameter with a 21 mm bracelet. Sure I'm being selfish but that would be perfect for me.

You shouldn't speculate, it's frowned upon.

Yeah I agree, a lot fun. Wish there were more threads like this which didn't get locked with the 'wait until we get 100% conformation from Rolex' sign off.

Just get rid of the blingy TT bracelet. Try something more subtle.

I have my SS DJ41 as my daily under the radar watch, I kind of want my other ones to be a bit blingy when I go out. |

Except maybe even 44 and 22. And Glidelock on everything, please Rolex. That 'mini' YM42 version is more than sufficient. |

That watch is pretty spot on. If anything, the Jubilee would take it up another notch.
Two things I have noticed about owning the CHNR: You have the right skin tone and you have to love brown on your watch. Understand this and it’s a stunner. |

The SS bicolour bezel models went Jubilee. These are not all the GMT Maaster II models. They represent two out of six. A strong trend for the SS models. Not a trend for the TTs and PMs.

What I would change? The fact that I don't own one.

They nailed it the first time around. Perfect world, slimmer lugs maybe. But that's more a general GMTc criticism than CHNR specific. And I might even go so far as to say of all the maxi case watches, the CHNR might wear it best.

I feel a TT jubilee bracelet will make the watch a bit too feminine. The watch in its current form is a gorgeous unisex option. I bought one for my wife and she loves it. I’m secretly hoping she would get tired of it one day so that I’d be able to wear it. But I don’t think I’d personally be able to pull it off if it was on a jubilee bracelet.

They could offer a jubilee bracelet as an option, as it lends itself well to that config if that’s what you’re after.
As for a brown dial, I’m not so sure. I’d have to see one first and then decide. I actually don’t think it would work so well as the black dial. Otherwise, the watch is pretty much perfect as is. |

Instead of easy link, it would be a glide lock. That's just it for me.

No worries sir, we agree to disagree on that one and that's perfectly fine. It would be a boring world if we all had the same opinion on what does and doesn't look good.
