In grey dealers we trust....the next Rolex rumour.

Did a visit to my grey watch dealer today. He told me that in september Rolex will come with the new (movement) submariner. This is not a type of person that says something out of the blue. Yes, yes, and yes.... I am familiar with most of the TRF reactions in this kind of threads Just want this of my chest....We will see.... okay

It’s not the first “September” rumor. There’s always hope for another watch in time for the holiday season, that nobody can get.

Meh. Why not. Only makes industrial sense given how the DJ and YM and GMT have gotten new movements.

It’s the case change that would be the real speculation.

Worst kept secret for 2020. Sub and Mil should get updated movement. Maybe more.

I like the way “I heard from my AD” is treated with scepticism, yet “I heard from my grey” is taken seriously

Has anyone heard and/or have any confidence in the rumor that Rolex may increase the case size on the new submariner? ..I sure hope they don’t

Does anyone really care about an identical submariner with a new movement? 70hr power reserve is nice, but doesn’t seem like something to get excited about.

Not just the movement .. The trimmed lugs as well + that cool crown logo on 6 ..

I have turned down the 114060 recently from an AD as it looked like a soap bar with those fat ugly lugs ...

In the perfect world they would also remove at least one line of that stupid text - it's like reading a novel on that dial with those 4 lines ..

I have some mixed feelings... Would love to get my hands on a 114060 in time (I like the 6 digit lugs and looks too) but likely won't be able to, and at the same time I'm really curious and excited to see what's coming up (trimmed lugs?)...

I heard the submariner was going quartz for improved durability.

I agree the Submariner in it's current iteration is a compete abomination. I'm embarrassed to wear such an atrocious reference

I love all the comments and opinions. Especially the “ugly lugs”. Now we know why sales on those went so poorly! Wait, that’s not true, sales are still off the charts!!

Love my new Bluesy with “those fat ugly lugs”!! Geez....

Yes, heard that too. Also adding a digital clock and countdown timer to cater to people who don't want the trouble of rotating a bezel or learning to read an analogue dial.

Many people have said the Sub gets the new movement and somewhat thinner lugs. To me this is basic housekeeping and not anything new. I also expect to see the Sub line available on the OF at some point. What would be neat is if they came out with a totally new model.

Seems unlikely, given that the 43mm Sea-Dweller is already pretty much a larger sub (and that 44mm and 42mm sub-style watches are also available).

Trimmed lugs also seem unlikely, given that the current sub is in such high demand that its street price is more than retail. I doubt Rolex sees the complaints of a portion of the tiny enthusiast community as meaningful.

But in either case, you never really know. I don't think anyone expected the Rolex/Tudor novelties from 2019.
