Did the Day-date 18238 come with this diamond dial?

So I have this store local to me that is selling this daye-date with box and papers and supposingly mint with no band stretch... My Question is, did they ever come out with the reference 18238 with this type of diamond setting dial? All I ever saw were the square diamond settings but not with the gold surrounds... What you guys think? Seller says its authentic to the watch and not aftermarket...

I can tell you this. If it’s aftermarket any watch maker who knows Rolex will be able to tell by looking at the back of the dial. Even if the dial is authentic and Aftermarket diamonds were applied afterwards you can tell because the back will have evidence of being filed down a bit so the hands do not rub against the newly added diamond markers. So if anyone tells you that dial was available from the AD, that one You’re buying can still have an after market dial On it. If you purchase from a jeweler have him put it in writing that’s it’s all original then have a second jeweler who is experienced double check it.

Something about those diamond setting looks a little different to me but I am not an expert. There may have been different diamond dials over the years for the 18238.
You should contact vintage sellers, and ask how much $ to authenticate or what documentation might be with the the watch to indicate factory diamond dial.

Dial looks original but from a later date.

Dials on DD are changed a lot. If indeed original doesn’t impact value imho.

You mean that factory diamond dials have ''raised'' hands (in comparison to non-diamond dials) so that they wont rub against the diamonds?
