How does it work with the AD? (re "Incoming")
This must be explained elsewhere on the forum but I don't know what search terms I'd use.
OK, you've been waiting for x months/years and you finally get the call from your AD telling you that your watch is (going to be) available. (This remains a fantasy scenario for me, to be clear.) How does that work, exactly? a) do they call telling you it's actually there, or that they've been told to expect it imminently? b) can you go pick it up the same day, or do you need to arrange for payment first? c) related: do ADs accept credit card for a purchase, or must you arrange for something like a wire transfer? Assume, here, I'm talking about a SS sub or GMT--something < or ~ 10k. d) is it a big production, or simply a regular store transaction? I'm assuming that varies from place to place. I assume, too, that they will offer to size the watch for you, and will take care of warranty registration? Sorry if this topic has been done to death. Please link me to another thread if/as appropriate. |

A) Depends on the AD and what they say
B) Depends on the AD and what they say C) Usually credit card. I haven't heard of an AD requiring a wire. Though this also depends on the AD and what they say. D) Depends on the AD and what they say. I'd be surprised if they don't at least offer you a refreshment. |

A) most email/call/text when it arrived. Some I’ve heard will know a day or so earlier.
B) You can pick it up once you pay, typically they’ll give you a time frame that you need to come in by before they offer it to next person. C) Depends on AD. D) store transaction. From the sound of older threads, there used to be some sort of celebration when you spent $10-20k. Now it’s like the dealer is doing you a favor. |

a. If they want to sell it to you, they will call you to let you know that it's available for you now.
b. Yes, you can pick it up the same day. c. Yes, they accept credit card, you can pay when you pick it up. d. It's just regular sell transaction and they will size for you to fit your wrist. |

Mt AD calls me when it's in. If I want it, I arrange to visit (it's by appointment at my AD at the moment for any visit), I look it over, try it on and pay if I want to proceed. The only watch I am currently waiting for is a SS BLRO. The procedure for this might be different, although this remains to be seen. It might involve an alteration to my will, leaving my place in the wait list to my next of kin, in the event that the wait is so long that I die of old age.

OP, don’t overthink things. If an AD has a watch you are waiting for they will call you. Then you show up at the store, hand over your credit card and pay, then wait while you size it. You may or may not be offered coffee, espresso , water, a soft drink and chocolate while you wait. The essentials get packed up and placed in a bag and you go home and post an “incoming.”

In my case, this is how it goes. They tell me ~1 month prior to the Rolex delivery that my watch will come in and if I want it.
I can pay however I want to and they size the watch for me. They take care of the warranty too by activating it on the date of purchase. |

James Cameron and Panda Daytona literally get a call saying your watch is here, come and get it today or tomorrow at the latest or we call the next person.
Root beer they weren’t in too much of a hurry so they said within 3 to 5 days. My dealer demanded I paid with credit card each time, not sure exactly why, but I really don’t care. I’ve never had one of those champagne and red carpet experiences, most of the time they just make sure the serial number matches what’s in stock, bunch of random assholes run around, then I stuff it in my generic bag and I piss off back to my house. |

Agree with what others have said, wish to add, that if and when they call if you can't answer the phone, be sure to respond back as soon as possible. And you need to be ready to buy. If you can't buy the day they call, then they may put you back in the queue.
