Hulk Feeding Frenzy

Overnight Hulk went from 257 for sale on C24 to 204 just now and pricing from high teens to solidly in mid 20s. Whats disturbing is that the majority of the watches are new/unworn. Rolex should swoop in and clean up this mess. So maybe regular customers can have a shot at getting a watch at MSRP. I don't have a dog in the fight since I got my Hulk last year. But feel for everyone whose been waiting untold lengths of time, not just for Hulk but for any watch. To see these brand new watches pop up for huge markups is disturbing. I see why I'm reading more and more members fading from the crown and going elsewhere. If this BS carries over to the new OPs I think I'm done also.

Thinking of the Orange and Yellow dials as beach watches. But don't tell me I can't walk in and buy one of these!

It’s the same for certain Hermes hand bags you can’t get them from Hermes but you can buy them for a premium by the hundreds in second hand stores, brand new. It’s the ultimate spot to be in for a luxury brand...

Yeah I’m confused. What should Rolex fix? This is what they want as above!

Lol of course 12k for a dial swap is not sustainable. This will come down to earth.

Little disappointing to 'watch' but it is what it is. I went to a couple of local ADs today in the hopes of seeing any of the new models, but was told even for OP, I wouldn't see one til some months later.

Shrug. I'll just keep on waiting. Not in any hurry and certainly don't desire it that much to spent 3 times the money.

My AD told me today to expect the new OP I am waiting for within a week Or so. I was the first to request one today but the store manager was confident in his timeline.

Why would Rolex want to fix it? It's the Golden Goose. If they make watches readily available for the public then secondary market goes down. If secondary market goes down then demand really goes down. So double/triple of retail or 15% discount in grey market?

Was wondering the same if these grays pulled the watches but then I'm thinking why would they do that since its a sellers market right now and who knows if it cools off later.

I'm not sure but I think Rolex does not want a bunch of their customers pissed off that they can't get a watch but gray dealers have multiple brand new ones.

It's different if EVERYONE can't get one easily but when you have certain groups getting them and the main customer base can't I think Rolex would be concerned.

So if most of those were purchased by individuals and sold by them then its not a problem. I have no problem with certain customers that get preferential treatment and then do what they want with their property. It's the direct to gray dealer via the AD backdoor that's a concern and should be for Rolex.

I think the pricing would be the same if all watches were offered by private sellers.

I only look at the US based sellers on Chrono, which shows only about 60+ Hulks available. Ebay stock also dried up quite a bit. I remember always seeing 3 pages of Hulks for sale on Ebay and now theres only 10-15 Hulks listed.

One dude in England had his listed for 33K. lmao!!!!!!!!! Obviously there’s no drug testing in the watch selling world. I should put mine up for sale for 40K just for fun but then I don’t do drugs so I’m realistic.

I think the bigger greys are holding their stock back. They’ll probably trickle it out slowly for 25-30k in hopes that they’ll bleed some sucker.

What’s the rush, they hold all the chips and Rolex isn’t making anymore.

It's funny, back in the day, my AD, Ben Bridge in Honolulu, had several Hulks in the case. I tried it on a few times and my wife wanted me to buy one (my wife usually never wants me to buy stuff) but it was too garish for me so I passed. Now that I can't have one, I feel the impulse to buy. Of course it's Fear of Missing Out (FOMO). That's what hype for all these models are right now. I'm just going to sit back and relax and patiently wait for what I really want.

I remember back in 2017 you could walk into the Ala Moana store and try on a Batman or Hulk in the case! How times have changed...

I noticed Davidsw quietly removed the 116610LV and 114060 and relisted it for 22k and 11.3k respectively today.

I think the lack of any sunray dials in the ss range has now put the hulk in an enviable position. I’m green with envy

I wonder what my unworn Hulk purchased one month ago with the new Rolex warranty card is worth if used ones From 2018/2019 are asking $20k?

There’s only one way to find out...

If you paid msrp a month ago and some sucker was going to give you 25k for it...how could you say no?

I actually paid MSRP in USA of $9,350. There was a slight increase in the price shortly before they discontinued the watch. My guess is there are very few with the new warranty cards out there.

I too have one with the new card. The question you have to ask is how much is someone willing to pay for the new card. I also have a hulk that is about a month older with the old card. Does it matter? Idk

For every 1 pissed off old customer that last bought a watch decade ago but yearns for the good old days, there’s 78,000 new prospects coming in the door around the world every day. That is success. What’s there to fix?

If I’m the Rolex CEO, I’m giving my team bonuses on a job well done.

I think we’re made to believe that that’s the case...that “78,000 new prospects coming in the door worldwide” is what’s going on.

What if the bulk of hot models were actually just sitting in a few of the largest gray dealers hands worldwide and the demand really hasn’t spiked to the levels were to believe they have?

I see the Hulks selling in minutes on FB watch buying groups from $18 to $22K depending on age, condition, full set etc.

There is alotta money in the streets from the digital economy (and other streams) and that money WANTS HOT Rolex and will pay whatever to get it..no problem whatsoever.

I actually believe most secondary sales are private and not via greys. The greys are very visible however.

Of all my watch buying friends, I know not one that has bought from a grey, all AD purchases including mine. That’s not at all representative of the watch buying world. My point is, the greys have mind share but it doesn’t mean they’re turning over thousands of new unworn Rolex SS pieces.

Even on C24, actually available stock is much lower % of what’s posted for ridiculous prices.
