What happens to discontinued models?
While I like the new Oyster Perpetual at 41 mm, I’ve been dying to get a red grape. I was disappointed to see that color is not available in the new 41 mm. Anyone know what happens to old stock of a discontinued model? Does Rolex buy them back or do I have a chance of finding a 39 mm red grape gathering dust in some dealer’s safe? Of course there’s always preowned or gray but I’m hoping to find NOS.

ADs keep whatever stock they’ve purchased from Rolex. You could probably call around to see if any AD still has that watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would guess whatever stock Rolex still has in the pipeline will be sent to dealers still , even a few weeks ago I've heard stories of people still getting the Black GMT from ADs that was discontinued last year.
I'm also sure ADs will have a few hot models in their safes that they was holding back for bundle deals or the 'Right Customer' |

Once the AD buys them from Rolex they are there to be sold. Rolex doesn’t buy them back etc. You might find that watch as while popular it wasn’t ultra hard to get. Call around and see.

Some watches sit in cases for years before sold. Never heard of a company taking back discontinued models. Good luck in your search, but the OP39 has been very rare for the last year and I suspect they are all long sold. My AD told me they had not gotten any so far this year. Now, I guess, they will not.

Yes, they get bought up by resellers and sold at huge profits!
Ie. HULK! Seriously talk to a few Grey's or Trusted Sellers, they might be able to locate one for you. Good Luck!

For the collectors who’ve paid attention to Rolex for a long time, does this mean there are still Hulks circulating and making their way to ADs currently?
