Why is Oyster preferred for the batman but jubilee is preferred for the Pepsi?

Seems like the general consensus is that the Batman is nicer on oyster and that people generally also prefer the jubilee for the SS Pepsi. I don't understand this. It's the same watch with a different color scheme. I personally prefer Oyster on both.

Is it because of marketing -- Rolex put the SS variant of the Pepsi on jubilee that people sway to it more? Personally it doesn't work at all and a sports watch with the jubilee looks strange regardless of Rolex's intentions. As a side note, the sky dweller on oyster-flex looks REALLY weird to me too. Fluted bezel on rubber is not a good match. But I digress...

If you prefer oyster for batman and jubilee for Pepsi, why?

I like them both. i guess. I just got used to the idea of a jubilee on a sport watch. It grew on me, but took a while.

I think the SS BLRO would look a lot better with an Oyster bracelet. It really suits the WG model. I suppose the Jubilee is a further way to differentiate the SS from the PM.

Wrong,I love the jubilee ,but its a DJ bracelet .
Best Jubilee was the Super-Jubilee ,why Rolex discontinued that one ,only they will know !!

GMT should be on an oyster ,BLNR and BLRO .

WG GMT BLRO a case in point ...16710 ...116710BLNR .

WG GMT BLRO Meteorite dial ...just an amazing reference !!

The 6 digit GMT on a Jubilee reminds me of gears.

Your initial premise is incorrect regarding popular opinion. That is a slippery slope where you get your intel from.

I certainly prefer the new super jubilee bracelet on both GMT models. It’s far more comfortable, more flash without showing scratches like pcl, bracelet breaths and flows water better so I would actually prefer a jubilee version on my DSSD JC. I think it’s just a better bracelet design all the way around. The jubilee is also a Rolex icon being their very first original bracelet design. Historically, it has longer Rolex legs so you may see it appear again on the Daytona. I can go into more Rolex Jubilee historical facts if you want.

Funny the whole Jubilee vs Oyster on a GMT watch conundrum. Some of the first GMT’s were on Jubilee and Seiko and others use various beads of rice bracelets (jubilee look) on sports watches . Having both style bracelets I find the Jubilee is by far the most comfortable.

Preference for sure. I don’t care for the jubilee on any watch.

I love both bracelets and to be honest i would switch them as my mood required. The Oyster does project a more sporty/sturdy vibe but some times you need a little flash.

I only like Jubilees on the Datejust and think all GMTs look much better on an Oyster. I accept that some people like the new steel GMTs but they are not for me. Rolex need to go back to giving people the choice.

The original BLRO was available on Jubilee bracelet, the 2018 new release revived it as sort of a modern-retro take. The bracelet makes the BLRO what it is. It’s supremely comfortable and defies scratches, great on my watch that sees all-conditions wearing.
I was kind of disappointed when they moved the BLNR to Jubilee, I think they should have kept the differentiation.

It's a very popular sentiment to see someone say they prefer the batman on oyster and pepsi on jubilee... I have seen countless posts stating that on this forum. I mean a scholastic study hasn't determined that it's definitively the majority opinion but it's definitely a popular one.

I think it's dumb that we can't make that choice. Make both bracelets available for each!

The GMT was offered on either an Oyster or a Jubilee bracelet for more than 50 years.

It's nice to see the Jubilee for a GMT again. The only thing wrong is that it is no longer an option at the Dealer.

I have the Batman so I would prefer to buy the new Pepsi with Jubilee, just not to have the same watch only with one different color in the bezel.
Having said that, if we compare the SS Pepsi with Jubilee bracelet and the WG Pepsi (Meteorite or Blue dial) with Oyster bracelet, to me the winner is the one with Oyster.
If Rolex would allow to choose the bracelet on the Pepsi I guess that 3 out of 4 watches would have been sold with the Oyster bracelet.

People have claimed that the GMT is a “sports” watch. What sport is it for?

It is a tool watch for pilots and businessmen who work across different time zones, many of whom wear suits.

Besides, the old oyster bracelet had polished center links. This should be a clue that it is not a sports watch like a Sub.

GMTs are beautiful on bth but they are better on Jubliee (just my own opinion based on function of the watch)

I think the opinions would be different if the BLRO was offered on SS Oyster.

So the Daytona also is not a sport watch?

I prefer oyster on BLNR, and would have also liked oyster on BLRO, but since it came on jubilee, and the wife likes jubilee too, I am not complaining.

People usually like things that are pleasing to their eye, or, there is a history that it reminds them of. Either case, it will vary from one person to another.

Love the jubilee on both. Every other sports watch with Rolex have oyster bracelets. The jubilee makes them unique. I had the BLNR in oyster and from afar it looked like a sub. The jubilee transforms the watch in my opinion but everyone has their own opinion.

I had this opinion once. Where you want to differentiate something to look different but ultimately I just didn't connect to it even though it looks unique. The Oyster might be a common Rolex bracelet but ultimately it just looks better IMO. If someone truly thinks the Jubilee looks nicer on its own I get it. But choosing it for the sake of differentiation will lose its novelty.

That’s an interesting question. I have no idea but I absolutely agree with the Oyster on the Batman and jubilee on the Pepsi. Just seems right?!
