Have you ever switched SA's at the same AD?

For a few reasons I've become less confident in my SA at one of my AD's in delivering on what she has said. Unreliable timelines, omission of info, pushing other brands now, etc. I'm self-aware and know that I'm no where near being a VIP client but her overall change in communication and backtracking has made me weary. I'm thinking of going with a different SA there. Has anyone done that? If so, did it become a better or worse experience?

Have fun with that. You're better off switching ADs.

I could just see your original SA telling the mgr that he felt you were a flipper or something else and that's why he didn't provide you a better level of service.

If you've ever dated your ex sister in law you might have the finesse to pull this off.

We actually bought from two SA at different locations of the same AD. Never had any issues with that in particular.

Interesting takes and can't say that I disagree. Probably why I posted it here first because I felt it wasn't going to be a good idea. I totally get the barber analogy and the ex sister in law was funny as hell. I'll have to check out that Seinfeld episode lol.

I actually had an SA that literally just stopped reaching out, offered me zero, and yes I would stop in to say hi, call and check on stock from time to time.

So I stopped in the store last month, met a new SA, hit it off and we’ve been in touch regularly since! I think I’ve officially made the switch.

That's probably the standard "non-VIP" treatment at that particular AD now. It sounds like you have nothing to lose by trying a different AD.

My SA is about 7 mos pregnant, so when she leaves for maternity - yep - I really think I'll be switching.

I like her a lot - she's always in communication - and very clear - but if she's going to be out for 6 mos... I know I'll need to jump.

Glad that worked out for you!

Communication (or lack thereof) is headed towards that for sure. The more I turn her down on other watches the more time in between increases when I hear from her. Maybe I'll need to drop by when she's off haha.

My experience is the owner/manger allocates high demand pieces so maybe new AD is best route.

I'd just have a discrete chat with the manager and see what you can do. If switching ADs is an option, you've always got that to fall back on.

That sounds about right. Could be a case of keeping my hopes up, maintain that relationship to keep coming back so that I can buy from other brands. The message went from "you're at the top of the list, there is no one else on it and you're getting it next month" to "we don't know when, we don't know when we get shipments, we don't know what's in those shipments, etc." blah blah blah. I was patient even with that one month timeline (this was back in June) and giving a pass due to the pandemic and possibility that shipments were slowed down but now I'm getting the standard BS line one would get new off the street.

I do have my contact out at other AD's but this particular one I have purchase history with already.

This may be an opportunity to work your way up the food chain OP. Rather than another SA, I’d seek out the owner or at the very least the manager if possible.

Just one more and that's it!

"Do you ever get down on your knees and thank God you know me and have access to my dementia?"

Loved that episode

Lol no need to apologize! I’ve been meaning to watch Seinfeld. I was a late viewer of Curb and LOVE it so it’s only natural to go back and watch Seinfeld. I’m guessing I’ll react to it like I did with Curb since I tried to watch it earlier in it’s run and didn’t “get it.” But love it now. Same with Seinfeld, when it came out I was much younger and couldn’t get into it but I’m thinking that will change.

SA’s matter at my dealer and there are six of them. There really are lists for allocation models and each SA is given slots on them. The manager there does not decide, at least on a routine basis, who gets what.
I like my SA, have known him over 20 years. I would probably follow him if he went to another AD. If he was leaving the business for good I suspect he would hand me over to one of his co-workers or the manager would.

Sort of. A few years ago one of the SA’s said he would put me on the list for a BLNR. I asked where i was months later and obviously i wasn’t on it.

He pulled the list out and said nope, you’re not on here. I walked in very shortly after and bought my wife a ring and jewelry from someone else, and we have been working with him ever since. I don’t really blame him though. I live in California, have tattoos, wear a backwards hat and flip flops most of the time, i assume he thought i was buying to sell. Now i primarily use a friend of mine and his SA. Funny how when you’re a big spender (friend not me) almost everything is available immediately.

I deal directly with the CEO / owner. A few times he’s tried to introduce me to the store manager in the context of “she’s wonderful and very capable,” but I continue to go directly to my contact.

Come to think about it, perhaps this is why my watches aren’t arriving he still responds to my emails and calls very quickly, but no incomings.

In March my normal SA got COVID and was out for a while. He introduced me to another SA at that time.. best thing to ever happen me in this hobby... I've since bought 9 pieces this year when with the other guy I got 1 in the past 2 years..... we're still super cordial when I go in, but I gravitate toward the hand that feeds me!
