Value of Aftermarket "Enhancements"
I'm looking for opinions! After years of aspiring to own a Rolex, I have just purchased one, a stainless steel Men's Oyster Perpetual DateJust. It has 18k white gold hands, a silver face, Jubilee bracelet - represented as all original - BUT - it has had diamond markets and a diamond bezel added. Questions: 1. Does Rolex use diamonds, or are watches with diamonds an aftermarket enhancement? 2. Does this enhancement in any way detract from the watch's appeal to Rolex afficianados? What will an Authorized Dealer say? 3. Is this watch too flashy for business wear? BTW: I paid $2,350. Dealer said new it'd go for $17k. I think he was exaggerating just a tad - I put the value at about $5,000, but then again things are 'worth' what a buyer will pay, right? I'm new to the Forum. You are the experts. I value your feedback! Last edited by ExpatUA; 8 May 2009 at 02:55 AM.. Reason: Cleaning errors |
