Uneven text prints on Meteorite Dial, Yay or Nay?
Notice the texts and markings may appear crappy due to unevenness nature of Meteorite dial, and look at the thinned “PH” fonts too. Worst effects when one is viewing through the eye-loupe. This translates to less standardised product as they can argue it is due to the nature of the material, well well ~ And I am not sure how the fonts will age over time, will it fall short instead of age beautifully? All these appear to be risks as it is just a ‘stone’ dial that yet to be popularly valued by the market, don’t think the big boys (PP, AP, VC) have embraced this material or pattern, yet. It isn’t as rare as we might have thought too. Will this be concerning to you personally?

If it's such a concern OP shouldn't get one. Those are non-issues, it's a natural product. Personally I think it's a stunning dial and wouldn't hesitate.

Not at all an issue for me; it's the charm of natural materials with each piece being unique.
Who's going to use a loupe to see the time?

I would have thought the dial would be lacquered first.

There's no way around it, that's the texture of the dial. What would you like for them to do exactly???

It's true that meteorites have a very high percentage of iron, but meteorite slices that are acid washed and then sealed have been around for decades in jewelry without showing signs of rust.

Meteorite dial is profoundly wabi-sabi. I trust no perfectionist or OCD people should ever get one.

If any of the issues were from poor workmanship/error/etc., then it would bother me. If it's due to the substrate itself, then it wouldn't bother me at all.

If I was worried about its uneven appearance why would I be interested in the first place?
PS: Rolex’s huge premium for meteorite dials does not reflect the value of the source material. Zelos and other microbrands have offered meteorite dials in watches under $500. |

You know the dial isn't actually wavy like you're suggesting.
They are ground flat before any paint is put on. |

The little things people worry about today. The meteorite Rolex uses has a high nickel content plus they are coated to prevent rusting. I have a Daytona from 2005 with a meteorite dial and couldn't be happier. No sign of discoloration or uneven printing. It will be one of the last ones to go should I have to liquidate my collection. Chill people, we have bigger things to worry about in the world today. |

I am OK with the very slight distortions considering its a meteorite dial.
