Shopping at Rolex AD with different stores

How does it work to shop at the same AD but at different stores? There are a few AD’s near me, but owned by the same owner. Is it to my benefit to try to build a relationship at multiple stores with multiple SA’s? It seemed that the various stores were allocated different pieces. Would it help my chances to build that relationship? I know my purchase history carries across the whole AD, but my thinking is that if each store is allocated different watches, it will help my chance to get the watch I want.

As long as it’s not a chain but just a family owned jeweler I would just stick with one store. It’s probably likely they they have one central list and move pieces between stores if they have to. Also never hurts to ask how they split up the ss models

Pick a store. Why would an SA go out of her way to help you if you give your business (and her commission) to someone at another location?

I have an AD with two locations (used to be 3). It has been a while since I have bought anything, but I always ask for the manager at the second location and make sure that person knows I am here because of the relationship with the SA at the first location.

This AD does have centralized list of your buying history, so that can always be referenced.

Not sure any of this matters in trying to get a Rolex these days, but there you go.

Given today’s environment if you want a Rolex watch at MSRP just go after it. Talk to anyone who could potentially source one for you. If that means multiple SAs at the same family store but different locations, so be it. From my experience those type of stores, though owned by the same owner(s), run each stores separately from the others. SAs compete with other SAs and keep their own client list.

Rolex does not allow stores in a chain to internally swap out watches or move them to another store for sale. This makes it hard for for the buyer. Even with this policy, allocation decisions in most chains come from the top or home office with commodities as scarce as Rolex. When a person comes up on the list, they are told which branch to go to for their watch. Your best bet is to befriend the owner or manager of the chain and not various SAs at the stores who do not make the decisions.

I chose to get to know the owner of our AD, and over the years I also have come to know a good number of the staff. I’d start with one location and go as high up the food chain as you can

▲▲▲ This. I've been fortunate to get to know the AD owner and have received my desired watches.

I only go to one store. Their other store is 70 miles away and then one back east. I took all the SA's at my AD a bottle of wine each. Wasn't necessary but I thought I'd share the love with the other sales people as two of them have lost sales to my guy when people ahead of me passed when a watch came in. When I get a call, I run right down!

Ask them?
