Sea Dweller Losing Time-Rolex Service Center?

Hey guys- My Sea Dweller is losing 5-20 mins a day. I live in Los Angeles and have never serviced my Rolex before (it's 3 years old). Is going to the RSC the best (an obvious) choice? Thanks in advance for your opinions/advice.

You could try to demagnitize the watch. Done properly, it won't hurt anything. 5-20 minutes is losing a lot of time. Sounds like really low amplitude to the point where the escapemenet is missing beats. Does it still have its normal power reserve? I'd kind of expect it to stop early. In any case, I think it is time for a service. The RSC should fix it for free.

FWIW, a lot of watch wearers don't wear the same watch every day. I'm kind of wondering if the manufacturers are counting on that in their new longer service intervals. If you wear the watch every day for 3 years, the watch may need to be cleaned and lubed to reduce friction earlier.

Don’t worry about de-magnetising the watch just take it in to your nearest RSC and get them to fix it under warranty, that’s what your warranty is for.

ok. well if u're not comfortable. It's a pretty simple concept. If the hairsprings are stuck together because they've been magnetized, sending it through a multi directional magnet will randomize it and no longer stick together, thus the watch beats normally again. It won't hurt it. But if you're not comfortable that's fine.

Go to dealer and have them check. I figure it's just easy to do at home for $15 or so. It's a good tool to have if you have any watch that isn't anti-magentic. Especially if u have Amazon Prime etc.

which SD do you have? I think the watch is probably already anti-magnetic, especially the SD43

The Hair spring may not be magnetised but I understand there are other things which could be magnetised.

Anyway, my guess is the watch is afflicted with the dreaded and well documented 32xx curse. If so then only the Rolex service center can rectify it

I had the same issue with my 126600, took it in and now it keeps perfect time.

Sorry, but are you suggesting the OP is looking at his watch, comparing it to another time source, and is somehow misreading it?? He says it's running 5-20 minutes slow per day! He would have to have the basics of telling the time rather fundamentally wrong to make a mistake like that!

No I am suggesting its either 5 minutes or is it 20 minutes a day, and to do a exact daily check test after a full wind on the wrist for a few days. And even a 32 series movement never heard of any loosing that amount of time, seconds yes but that amount of minutes no.

It's the variation between 5 and 20 minutes that is most intriguing.
