Rolex explorer 5500 super precision. HELP required

Hello All,

Looking to buy a 5500 34mm explorer from circa 1962.

Would you mind casting you eye over the photos below to see if there are an immediate signs of intimidation. Im aware that air king cases were used during this period hence the reasoning for a 34mm case.

I don't know whether the dial looks suspect of a redial or whether the photos are so poor. the plexiglass looks hazy also which may obscure the dial. I can't request any additional photos as it is at auction.

It does appear unpolished and the movement looks correct.

The dial is stamped super precision also.

Many Thanks in advance
Ollie

Always best to just buy a 1016 from a seller that has experience

Unless it is priced as an AirKing then it will be a huge gamble

This - this reference is only a dial swap away from being an AK, so I wouldn't pay much more than an equivalent AK. That said, the 5500 Explorer is a lovely watch.
