Nato strap on a sub

I am considering fitting a nato strap on my sub, however I am a little concerned that the spring bars may be too weak and fail. I wore a pussers (Naval) RM CWC daily for Twenty five years no problems as they have steel bars. I would like to fit one to my sub as they are comfortable to wear but do not want it falling off.
Anybody worn a watch daily on a strap with spring bars for any length of time?

The spring bars will not have any more tension on a Nato than a strap or bracelet. And, in fact, although spring bars rarely fail, if they do the Nato will still hold the watch with the remaining spring bar. So the Nato is much safer.

You can be safe with original springbars so long you don't use this type of strap.

I wear a NATO on my 5513 sub. When I put one on a no-holes Sea-Dweller it wrenched the spring bar out on one side due to the strap catching on the sprinbar flange. So be careful!

Ok this is sound advise, I'll give it a go and see how I get on. I intend to wear it daily on site and this is where I am concerned something may happen, still it's no use to me sat in the safe collecting dust.

I can see this being a problem. Maybe a more secure solution would be to use some sturdy non-flanged spring bars. They could eventually be removed by snipping them with pliers, they're cheap enough for this to be viable. That's what I would do anyway, YMMV etc.

These look pretty sturdy too, where can I find this type of spring bar...Oh and thanks for putting up the pic, it paints a thousand words!

Got mine from a local watchmaker, £1 each. Should be available from any AD or repair specialist. Just get the fattest ones you can find! These are 20mm x 2mm
