I've just been doing similar studies and to be honest it doesn't seem an exact science. The watches don't seem to be associated officially with boxes.

Boxes were made in many parts of the world so country to country boxes could be different depending on where sold.In the real world there is no correct number box, as in most cases the box you got was whatever the AD had on his shelf at point of sale. Now over the years they did alter mainly the inter style of the boxes like whether cushion or clasp type watch holder. In todays age most all SS watches come in the medium size box watches like say the DSSD may come in a slightly larger box.
