Interesting IG Poll on BLNR Bracelet Preference

I know there have been quite a few threads on the BLNR and the preference of bracelet - Jubilee vs PCL Oyster. I don’t want to rehash another poll but…

to add another data point, yesterday, watchtradingco had an Instagram story poll that pitted both of them together and asked which do people prefer, the jubilee or the oyster. The poll lasted for 24 hours.

To my surprise, the jubilee won 57% to PCL oyster 43%! I was actually pretty impressed to see these numbers as it seems that initially this community here generally leaned toward PCL Oyster on the BLNR, but it seems that as time goes on, it is becoming more of a 50/50 split.

For whatever it’s worth, it seems that whoever are on Instagram (maybe less WIS there?) prefer jubilee.

So TLDR: different strokes for different folks?

I always liked the batgirl better (aka the Batman on jubilee)

I have a BLNR on oyster. Jubilee was not an option when I bought mine. I prefer the oyster.

I would not turn town the oyster if presented to me, but really like the jubilee much better. Just a nice change up from all the other oyster sport models.

Haha I think the idea is if you can only have 1 GMT and it’s the BLNR what to choose

I think this is the answer 100% of the time. To me Pepsi looks better on jubilee and BLNR looks better on oyster

LOL yes I understand that regarding if a person wants to buy 2 GMTS. But the point here is only having 1 GMT.

The Instagram poll i believe was to see what people preferred if they had a BLNR.
Bringing in the point with a Pepsi here is irrelevant to the discussion at hand

It’s subjective of course, but honestly I think there are a lot of sheep on this message board. One guy said one time that pcl looks better on Batman and jubilee looks better on Pepsi, and now tons of people echo that. It’s nonsense. For me jumbilee wins if you intend to wear it daily because pcl scratch way too easily and starts to look weathered in very short amount of time.

I am not surprised that an Instagram poll places jubilee as the winner. Because I would guess that to a non wis, the jubilee just looks nicer/more expensive/flashy

I have both and I prefer the oyster now over the jubilee. I find the oyster is more sporty or masculine and the jubilee more dressy. The jubilee is super comfortable but after owning both I think the jubilee is best on DJ and new SkyD with fluted bezel.

Ah yes, I see your point on the IG poll. If non wis generally think that jubilee is more flashy and catches the eye better, then yah the poll results is starting to make sense.

Interesting. I initially preferred the jubilee, but as time goes on I’ve grown to appreciate the oyster more. Perhaps that’s because the one I was offered — and bought — is on oyster.

Both looks great. And soon (or perhaps already, not sure?) you’ll be able to order both bracelets if you want to swap them out.

As it stands, I think they’re equally beautiful.

Interestingly enough, I noticed recently that gray market prices for BNIB models tend to be very slightly higher for the oyster — despite the MSRP of the jubilee actually being a bit higher. So it does seem like there’s some evidence out there that oyster is more popular, if only in how sellers price their watches.

I also have to say that the PCL scratching seems overhyped. I have no scratches on my Daytona or BLNR (knock wood — I’m sure I’ll get a bad one now), but was expecting to have them all scratched up based on everything I had heard. What are people doing with their watches?

I do agree on the non-WIS point though. Jubilee screams Rolex, so to the average Joe I can see it being more appealing. Similar polls among non-WIS would also lead us to believe the BLNR is more desirable than the BLRO (perhaps because blue/black are just a less funky duo than red/blue and non-WIS don’t care about the heritage of the model).

Good points. I'd speculate that grey markets watch this board and understand that oyster is more desired among WIS, which is why they mark them higher.

Personally, the oyster pcl on my milgauss is scuffed like crazy...but I am pretty hard on watches, which is probably why I have grown to appreciate the jubilee.

I think it's great that buyers have a choice, but for me SS GMT-Masters should be on Oyster bracelets regardless of bezel insert color(s).

Until recently there wasn’t a choice. I’m glad Rolex now gives the option.

Anyway, oyster for me.

The GMTs on the jubilee bracelet have really grown on me. I also prefer the oyster bracelet all brushed regardless.
