How many people actually use their warranty within the first 5 years?

I’m generally curious. Seems like a short time for things to go wrong.

I may be wrong but it looks like when the first release came out in 2017 they were having problems with the new 3235 movement. It seem like the ones with most of the problem are the ones that have the 30 at the six o'clock position on the deal. I got mine in 2019 that has the crown at the six o'clock position and have not had any problems with the movement. Though I don't wear it everyday when I do it keeps great time within specs. Just my observation..

I've been suspicious of my SD43 running slow for a while, finally tested it and confirmed it. Dropped it off to my AD for a trip to RSC Dallas yesterday. I think this falls under the 3235 issues well documented here.

My AD told me RSC is very backed up and it may be 2022 before I get it back. I didn't expect a 24 hour turn around but 3+ months to fix a well known issue on a modern watch was a bit surprising.

They give 5 yr cos from their own research and past history of service, Rolex can determine the "safe zone" on the warranty.

Same goes for cars. Manufacturers determine this "safe zone" warranty years and thus cover knowing up till that moment, the car, tranny,engine/electronics should last to specs with minimal of issues. And the next day, your tranny fails ;)!!

Though some watch brands only offer 2-3 year (Tag, and Omega till they moved to co-axil movements and extended to 5 yrs now).

Yeah, that’s a long wait. What year is your 43? Curious if the problems are most common with earlier production SD43s?

From the numerous Rolexes I've owned, I've only used the warranty once, and that was on my 2019 SD43 with the 3235 movement. (The usual, well documented dodgy 3235 slowing-down issue). TBH that was enough for me to sell it as soon as it came back from RSC - I'm glad to be shot of the 3235.

Never used it myself in almost 50 years of wearing Rolex watches but today most so called problems seem to be over a couple of seconds or so out of spec. Like with the 32 series which has a slight problem when first introduced that was well over exaggerated on the various watch forums on the net

Haven’t had to use it for my Rolex but had to use the 5 year warranty on one of my Tudors.

It completely stopped after 10 days, been at RSC since July.

7 watches, only used on once. Date sometimes only partially changed and then clicked over fully at about 3am. Returned 3 times before problem resolved.

Oh I just love being told by someone with precisely zero experience of the issue himself, that a problem I've personally experienced is "exaggerated". Gives me such a warm fuzzy feeling.

And no we weren't talking about "a couple of seconds or so" by the time it went in for warranty work.

One time only. Sent my wife's watch out because it was grinding when trying to wind it. Watch was stolen during shipping from the AD. Worked out well for us at the end.

My Z-Blue threw its mainspring when less than two years old. It happens. Getting it fixed was fast and painless.

I just dropped of my 13 week old Tudor BB Chrono to the AD this morning. Pushers stopped working. Clicked on the chrono - won't click off. Watch has been running quite well until today. They packaged it up, and will ship it back.

He didn't give a timeframe, but judging by a couple posts here, I bet I'm in for a wait.

I did on one watch. It wasn't keeping proper time, RSC had it few a few weeks, they fixed and sent it back.

Two Rolex's purchased new in October 2020 36 OP went in once, 126200 3 times to AD, Twice to RSC. Wore it a total of 4 weeks in a 8 month period.

Don't waste your time with grandpa crabby pants. Sorry to hear you had to part with your watch. My 2020 Sub has issues but my 2021 DJ is absolutely amazing. I do think the 32xx has real promise and as more models convert to it I'm more confident that it'll get sorted.

To OP - I have decided to wait a bit longer before sending mine in since the watch keeps great time if fully wound, so might as well keep wearing and wait till I'm closer to the end of the warranty. But I will for sure be a "+1" for the needing to use warranty within 5 years question (2020 41mm Bluesy 126613LB).

The best made cars in the world come in around 25 flaws per 100 vehicles sold. No reason to think any company could crank out something as small and complex as a mechanical watch and achieve 100% perfection.

I used it earlier this year on my DJ41. I have one of the early releases from 2017 and it suffered from the movement timing problem discussed above. I sent it to the Dallas service center and it's been keeping great time ever since.

I have a three year old Explorer and it's been running great so I probable won't need to use the warranty.

My Daytona had an issue. When using the chrono (imagine that!!!), it would slow down or stutter, which also impacted the timekeeping (by minutes per day, not a couple of seconds).

I dropped it off when in L. A., and it was delivered 12 days later. It’s been great ever since.

Only ever used the 2 year warranty(back in the day) once for a quality issue on a Rolex.
Other than that I have not made a warranty claim on any other watch to date.
