How many of you after buying a new or used car

leave the dealership with that "I just got screwed feeling" and still signed
the papers anyway? My wife's daughter got a great deal on a new Jeep
Grand Cherokee but they got her post sale add-on crapola so I have spend all Sunday trying to save her 3k.

If you leave the dealer paying the price they asked, then you got fleeced.

I watched the art of the car deal, when my Father purchased a car recently.

He got them to take back his car that was on lease, make $5k in repairs, forgive over-mileage, and give $100 off the lease per month for 48 months.

I'd be interested in seeing a detailed list of this "post sale add-on crapola". I haven't been near a dealer since '92 (I've bought used since then) but I hope to buy another car later this year and want to go prepared.

Car Dealers are definitely crooks and it's all legal. They make money on you three times; once when they take in your old car, second time is when they sell you the new car and lastly when they sell your used car. Then they make a huge profit on the new car when they sell you all the added extras!!!

In the UK used car prices are quite strong on certain models,as no one wants to buy new in the current climate,I dable in the used car market, and at a Ford dealership on the commercial side, they weren't taking any part ex vehicles as the commercial prices are so low, they can't offer trade in prices due to them being below book price.

I did once years ago when I was helping my mom buy her Acura CL. That taught me a lesson.

A dealer forces you to buy added extras? If you pay extra for rust proofing or paint protection etc then you are the . You could always sell your old car instead of trading it in and make the Huge profit yourself.

I hate car dealers all the way. They screw you each and every way they can. Next car I buy I am going to screw them right back.

That's called business, not theft.

So what should I be on the look out for? I hope to buy a couple of year old car for my wife within the next year. I'd like to just give them our (old) trade and some money and drive away. What are all these extra fees?

don`t trade a car in..sell it private..walk in with cash..don`t buy a warranty..don`t wear your rolex..don`t seem excited or in a hurry

if you have time..send me cars you are looking for and I can tell you what I can buy them for..wholesale, that will give you a $ figure to start with.

The way I save on buying vehicles is I stay away from dealerships, but then again I have only bought 2 vehicles from dealerships in my life. I bought 1 car in 1979 when my very first car (a hand-me-down 1970 Dodge Dart with a slant 6 that I still had to pay me sister for) couldn't take 80 m.p.h. coming from the Florida Keys on US1 after bridge-shrimping one night, and the other I bought when for some reason I wanted a Club Wagon van on a Ford used car lot in Plant City Florida in the 90s.

I buy my vehicles from private individuals, but I also work on most of the things my vehicles ever need myself, so when I look at a vehicle I can pass on one I don't think is worth my time or money.

I like to pay for a vehicle in full and have no payments. If it winds up needing a repair or three, big deal, no payments!

The thing that gets me about buying new is the day you buy it and drive it off of the lot is the same day the value drops drastically and the vehicle instantly becomes "used". If you financed it you also are now owing more than the car is worth too (like my daughter and son-in-law on both of their vehicles).
