Iphone 13 (pro)

I just got mine, up from the 12 pro. I didn’t think there would be much of a difference but I am very pleased with this new phone. The video looks better, the apps faster, and the new layouts easy to use. I had heard the really big upgrade wouldn’t be until the 14, but I consider this a significant step up from the 12.

Anyone else got the 13? Approve? Disapprove? Like-Hate?

I just ordered mine yesterday. Got the larger size. I’m Upgrading from the X. So it should be a huge difference

Same here Paul. 12 Pro to a 13 Pro. It’s faster, the camera is incredible and the battery is much better.

I upgraded from the X also. I like it, but I think o like the form factor of the X better, rounded edges, just need to get used to this. My area is supposed to have good 5G coverage but I’m on LTE as much, if not more. That’s not a phone issue though… I hope.

I got the 13 Pro Max and love the 120Hz ProMotion screen refresh rate. It's buttery smooth!

Got it. I did not think it was that big of a change but then again I buy the new one every September so who the hell cares. I do think the pics are a slight bit better and I do like the portrait mode better. Changing the exp after already taking the pic is cool.

Do you have to show up with any degrees, diplomas, or business license to qualify for the Pro.

I tried to get the 12 Pro last year and they wouldn’t let me have one. They’d only let me have the miniature one.

Maybe next time I’ll get the Mrs to pick it up.

I got a 13 pro but I think that was because of my incredible likeness to a young Brad Pitt.

Just not fair.

You probably get all the good tables at the restaurant and don’t have to wait in line at the discos either.

Of course the good news for me is, with the prostate issues, I’m always seated by the restroom. So thats a win.

If I had the looks of Dan Pierce I would have walked out with a Pro Max.

On a serious note, I am the same with prostate issues, I had mine removed about 15 years ago, I am awaiting a specialist appointment on the 15th because my PSA has taken a jump. Although without a prostate I shouldn't have a score I have routinely had a score of .4 for most of that time, on my twice yearly check it has jumped to .6 and I have needed to be near a rest room more.

Good luck on that.

Yeah, that Dan Pierce guy probably gets a few iPhone Pro Max delivered to his house every year personally by Tim Cook.

I bet he doesn’t even use a case. (Look at me, I’m so pretty I don’t even use protection)

Did that sound bitter?

I ordered a 13 Pro and was given an expected ship date. When that date came, and went, and my iPhone X died on me, I went to my local Verizon store. They informed me that my order had been canceled! No idea what happened or why.
Since my X was dead I ended up with the only iPhone that they had in stock with expanded memory: a 13 Mini. It’s OK but I’m not pleased with it. I’m still trying to get a 13 Pro and, when I do, I’ll give my Mini to my daughter-in-law.

Actually for me mini is my preference.

Funny you say your phone died. (Well not really)

I have a house full of old iPhones, converted to cameras, used as ipods, (3 of those), a couple I traded in, a couple sitting as backups, never had one die. I thought one wouldn’t charge and bought a new one but I found out the charging hole was full of lint. So it’s viable now too.

I just replaced my 7 with a SE second generation. It has a home button instead of face recognition, which I appreciate. It is the body of an 8 with the hardware of the 11.

And it cost around $500 instead of a thousand.

Plus Apple delivered it to my house and we set it up masked and socially distanced in my driveway.

This was my first experience of a phone literally dying. The display went green and that was that. Like you, I try to keep a spare around, just in case. I fired up an old iPhone 6 and used that while I waited for my 13 to arrive.
The Mini is ok, I do like the form factor, but I still want the 13 Pro for the camera.

Yeah the camera is supposed to be pretty sweet.

For me the camera thing is a problem. I have a ton of great travel pictures on my phone but an iPhone camera can never equal a real camera, sensor size and all that. But it’s so damn convenient.

Do I drag around my real camera but rarely use it.

I just got my iPhone 13 mini.
It’s ok. Not as good as Samsung phones but ok. I’d have stuck with Samsung/Android but all their phones are the size of paving slabs these days and the 13 mini is the best one handed pocket sized phone out there. I just wish it didn’t have iOS on it ….

I have the XS but decided to wait until next year for the 14. The improved camera on the 13 which seems to be the main upgrade doesn’t really interest me.

I noticed the resemblance, you look a lot like Achilles in the movie Troy… Anyway…. Best of luck on your PSA. As a fellow prostate sufferer, I understand the challenges. I don’t know what is up with your PSA, but from my experience .6 is not too much to worry about. From what I know, you don’t have to be concerned until it is over 3.0. Still, best of luck Brad- I mean Dave.

You are right Paul, .6 is very low, but, because I have had my prostate removed it should be zero. When I first got Prostate cancer I had the operation (prostatectomy) when it went to 4 (I think). After the operation everything went well for a year then it came back and the PSA went to .4 so I had a course (If I remember correctly it was 20 days) of radiotherapy which seemed to do the trick. After that it was about .1 for years, then, about 10 years ago, it went to .4 and stayed there.

I have my PSA checked every 6 months by the NHS and because it was steady a .4 for all that time, it was just monitored. The last time it scored .6 which is a concern, so mid month I have an appointment with the specialist. As it turns out, it is the same consultant who did the operation all those years ago.

Came from an 11 pro max and it is an improvement. I wouldn’t call it huge though. The 120h refresh is the real star and much needed as Apple is the last to come to the party with this three year old tech. The smaller notch goes unnoticed but the macro lense camera setting is pretty cool. I turn 5G cell service off because it’s not really up to speed in my area and this did wonders for battery life. I love face-id although an in-screen finger print reader would be welcome in covid times(don’t have nor plan to have an Apple Watch), another example of old tech Apple hasn’t adopted, maybe next year but I hope it’s an alternative to face-id which I think is the best biometric security system of any phone on the market.

Favorite features, 120h display, platinum ice blue special color, and the throw back square design. To me this is my favorite iPhone design to date.

Surprise feature I didn’t expect to appreciate was Magsafe, definitely much more useful than I expected. Seems like a gimmick but I really think this is an excellent idea and would expect the industry to follow suit in the future.

Next year is supposed to be the big redesign so let’s see where Apple goes with it. Hope the square design and face-id continue. Hope the notch goes, in-screen finger print sensor added, with new EU regulations the lightning cable is dumped.

Ive been using a 13 pro for around a month, coming from a 10 the difference is night and day on the battery, camera is amazing, especially with the macro shots (I use for images of serial numbers and minor defects on inspections) and overall ‘smoothness’ in apps and general use, big upgrade for me!

This is the same for me.

I do have and really enjoy using the 5G though, It is super fast, almost instant, I dont have connectivity where I live but use it in Leeds and this morning in Middlesbrough. I keep the 5G setting on automatic. To me, it is probably the most noticeable improvement.

I'm looking at the 13, I'm currently on a 4 year old Oneplus 5, but might want to make the switch to Apple.
