Odd ‘o T swiss T o’

Hi,

On my 1803 on the bottom there is written ‘o T swiss T o’. I can’t find what it means, other than swiss T or swiss made. I think it had something to do with the percentage tritium that there is inside.

Someone out here who can share his knowledge?

The Sigma symbol on the dial means that gold as been use either in the dial or/and in the case, like in the Day Date.

I believe they did this for around 2 years from 1973 to 1975, when in Swiss was founded an association named APRIOR to promote the use of gold

As baumare said, they are lowercase Greek sigmas.

When it appeared that then-new quartz watches were going to drive mechanical watches completely out of the market, this was a marketing plan by a Swiss watchmakers’ group (they are seen on other brands too).

Apparently the thinking was that gold content, even so small as the markers on a watch dial, would help to sell. In the same period, watches with steel markers had dashes in place of the sigmas.

I have a vintage Girard Perregaux manual wind SS watch with a sigma dial. The watch appears to be from the 1960s more or less (so if it’s a sigma dial it must be early 1970s). It belonged to my husband’s stepfather, who loved stylish watches and tech gadgets of all kinds. I loved its vintage look, so I got it after he passed away a few years ago. I wonder where its gold content is.

If I had to guess, white gold dial markers?
