I was in NYC in the diamond district came across this RO. It didn’t have a watch number or serial number on the back but it was a noticeably heavy watch. Any way to tell if it’s real?
Thanks in advance.

If it's on 47th street I would say its probably pretty real. But I'm no expert

Are they all trust worthy on 47th street?

How much is the ask

Well $21k looks like a real price.

Something about it seems off. When I type the reference number on the tag (67600BA) it shows ladies quartz.

https://www.grayandsons.com/w522013-...m-67600b.html?

Is it this company that is trying to sell the watch?

https://omijewelry.com/products/aude...-gold-bracelet

The dial says automatic, while the reference number is a quartz model reference. Something is wrong here, I would be cautious.

My experience is that 47th st. is not where you buy vintage unless you're the expert. Otherwise stick to post 2005 watches and only with a full set, box and papers for the watch you're interested in. 47th st. is like a commodities exchange and you don't take delivery of old eggs from the commodities exchange.

I am no expert on vintage AP, but something to consider regarding quartz vs. automatic is to see if the seconds hand ticks or sweeps. OP-do you remember seeing the seconds hand move?

Good luck!

This is automatic watch for sure. What is the size of the case? 36mm or smaller?

The price seems low for Yellow gold (........BA).

If the link that karasus posted is the same watch, it shows other photos which help give more clues to what it might be.

Those photos make me think it might be a 4100BA. Some reasons:

* The clasp is the simple early bifold style.
* No serial # on the back. This is consistent with some 4100s.
* The dial doesn't have either Swiss or Swiss Made, which is also consistent with some 4100s.
* The straight font of Audemars Piguet and Automatic is appropriate for that model.
* The look of the case back is strange (the "Royal Oak" part looks like an inset circle with a different finish than the polished back where the screws are set) but you can see that on some other 4100BAs listed on chrono24. The 4100 was supposed to have a removable two piece back unlike the solid cases of successors.

Of course, this is speculation. It could be some weird counterfeit or frankenwatch. The fact that it is mislabeled as quartz when the dial clearly says automatic isn't confidence inspiring.

Great sleuthing I think it is a 4100 the markings on the clasp gave it away. I don’t know why it doesn’t have a serial number. Thanks again

$21k for a 36mm is low. If that is in fact a 4100BA, that's price is well below market, although I cannot comment without knowing more about the condition. The watch has certainly seen some wear or polishing, so it wouldn't command the same price as one that is pristine.

My vote is that it's a 4100 and it's def under market. Either the seller mispriced it or there is something making it cheaper. I know some of the Diamond district shops and they don't sell counterfeit. They may sell subpar vintage but they don't peddle fakes there.

even being naked and overpolished, seems underpriced, and fishy... granted, it's not a quick set date, the crown is tiny compared to other ROs, and full gold 30+ years old, prob a good amount of stretch to the bracelet. buy only if you like it, but not my cup of tea, if you're buying to flip it, it'll need some love put into it...
