I like the first two more but realize many think the 16570 would be the one to go for. I've just never been into five digit Explorer IIs.

Love the Datejust dial but the Explorer 36mm is likely your best value play. Those are both really nice watches.

Here come the watches aren't investment comments.

That said, I absolutely understand the OP perspective. Yes, traditional investments are probably more prudent financially, but owning a Rolex means you can enjoy a fine watch, which after ten years and a service has probably made you a small profit. That is awesome, and an investment in joy, practicality and compared to some other brands, finances as well.

Forget the Cartier (like everyone else has) and do 16570. It’s a sleeper. But definitely do box papers and do trsited seller her

OP, do not think of this hobby as an investment. It’s a losing proposition. This forum is for watch passionate not for investors. If you read the guidelines you will realize this post is not following them

The company or the watches? As a company, go for it. You just have to convince the Wilsdorf Foundation to sell you some of the stock (no pun intended). For the watches, any stock (again no pun intended) you can find at the AD at RRP.

To be honest, investing in a Rolex at retail in this current market is a fantastic idea. Just have to earn your trust at an AD to be able to buy at retail.

Yes. Do it. You will definitely make a good return.
Buy some crypto too.
Buy the dip.
And make sure to report all your purchases on Instagram.
Good luck!

Investment vehicles have some form of future cash flow, whether it's a high dividend REIT (you get cash payments), a tech growth stock (cash revenue in the future), a low-risk bond (small cash but secure/predictable), and so forth- and when you valuate the security today, you discount the future cash flows you get from said security.

What do all watches have in common? They don't yield cash flow. Your future cash flows, unless you sell it, are $0- and even when you sell it, there's no agreed upon price for what that watch will get you. Could be double what you paid, 10x what you paid, 0.5x what you paid, or just... nothing (well, OK, maybe the material cost of steel?).

That's right: the intrinsic value of a steel Patek 2499 is the same as the intrinsic value of a $50 Seiko. Once you remove intrinsic value, all you're left with is a speculated estimate of what enthusiasts will pay you in the future. I would have almost said the same about art work, only you can set up a museum and people will pay to view art. No one will pay to view watches, and very few owners are daring/reckless enough to rent them out.

If that's not enough to convince you that watches aren't investments, I don't know what is.

It’s people like you that have ruined this hobby for those of us who genuinely love the brand and want to buy them to own an enjoy. The investors and speculators are ruining this hobby and should stick to investing in crypto or other assets. Stay the hell away from watches unless you love mechanical watches and want to own them to admire the pieces of art that they are, not to invest for the potential to make a few dollars on appreciation. Do us all a favor and open an E*trade account and go invest there.

You should submit a market buy on 0.5 shares of SUBC, 0.33 shares of GMTC, or 0.2 shares of DYTN, all great additions to the cartoon jpg NFTs which are also fantastic stores of value

Three cool pieces many members seem to consider enthusiast choices.

Just asking if they'll go up "even a little".

Get past the title and it's a nice post. So he went a little provocative with the title, oh no lol

Bit embarrassed by the vibe in this thread. Even the jokey egging on of Peter/PADI feels a bit off.
