If you could only have A Sub or GMT...
The other thread asking if you could only have a Sub C or an Explorer which would you pick got me thinking of these choices.
It's basically 5 or 6 digit Sub or 5 or 6 digit GMT. I know for me, with no doubt it would be the 16710 with 3 bezels and 2 bracelets.. and in the words of some of our members, "IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE"

16610 for me. I love 5 digit and older Rolex, they are pretty much perfect all around IMO

My first watch was a 116610LN and that one could be my only watch due to sentiment (wedding watch, first Rolex). But I prefer wearing a GMT so would recommend a GMT as a only.

Made my choice recently when I sold my 2019 BLNR on Jubilee and kept my 2021 no date Submariner.
The GMT was very nice, especially on jubilee but the GMT complication was for me unnecessary, the numbers on the bezel were therefore redundant and the lack of symmetry annoyed me. I prefer a simple, clean looking watch and there was only one winner for me in this contest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not any more. I’ve had three, the 42mm Polar Explorer II and BLNR were both sold. I enjoy watches from other brands like Panerai and Omega as having a Rolex centric collection didn’t really do it for me. The 124060 is the one! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I sort of meant to make this as in a one watch collection but not sure it makes much difference other than to me..the 3 bezels for the 16710 can't be beat that way of course.

I have both 16610 and 16710.
From these two it's a hard decision as they're my favorite Rolex watches but I'd definitely choose the 16610, which in my opinion is the coolest Rolex watch ever made. And that's what I use most of the time. Cheers.

Of those choices I’d pick the 126710 but I’d pick a 124060 or 126610LV over any of them.

If 124060 was an option would have went with that, the sub is the only one that ever sticks with me for whatever reason. So I went 126710 for basically the same price as the sub date with the extra configuration. Would also pick LV over LN but not over GMT. 124060>126710>126610LV>126610LN for me. No interest in the non-ceramic or explorer, need a ceramic bezel.

You can have anything you like.
I would have 116610LV and 126710BLRO. Plenty to chose from, something for (nearly) everyone. |

5 digit GMT. So very versatile with exchangeable basil inserts and the choice of Jubilee and oyster bracelet.

Interesting results, I would have bet large sum that the 16710 would dominate this poll.
The versatility of the 16710 cannot be beat, it's 6 watches in one. Plus it's the only way to get a Coke. |

I have a 116610LN and a 126710BLNR.
If I had to choose only one to keep, I would in a heartbeat keep the submariner. I believe it to be the perfect Rolex, and wear it daily. The jubilee on the 126710 is gorgeous, and I love that watch. But its harder to wear it when dressed down, and attracts more attention than the Sub. If I could only have 1 watch, period, it would be between the 116610LN and the Omega Speedmaster. No question. |

16710 with easily changeable bezel inserts.

Agreed, but perhaps "newcomers" to Rolex aren't aware of that and are voting based on what's currently popular.

It'd be 16710 for me. It's such a versatile watch. With multiple factory bracelet and bezel options, its like having 6 watches in one. If you add aftermarket inserts, you can have many more combos.

Is there a water depth rating on a GMT? Guess I never thought about that
