Grand Seiko Quartz vs. King Seiko Automatic
This post had some interesting responses over at WUS.
Both of these are roughly $2000. If you only keep one, which one are you keeping? |

I'd keep the GS. I have a 9F Day/Date that I wear often. From March 2021 (when I last set it) till today it has gained 2 seconds total, and will likely never need a service in my lifetime. I bought it in Japan in 2018 on impulse. The KS is ok, but I prefer to go vintage with that brand; the new KS doesn't really appeal to me.

I have had several vintage Seiko quartz from the 1970s, too, and they still run really well - almost always less than one minute gain per year.
