Incoming - A Legend
I have seen the 16710 in movies worn by many actors. Seen it in the wild a few times as well. I always remember thinking that I would love to have one someday, and that day is today.
Three months ago I finally pulled the trigger on one. Now it didn’t come with box and papers, but it was a truly honest example of a 16710 without being too banged up. It had been polished once before, but done very well. It immediately went off to LAWW for service and case restoration. Turnaround time was 12 weeks. During my waiting period, I acquired a brand new period correct jubilee bracelet, as well as all three inserts. I am not really into the LN insert, but I figured I would rather have it than not. The Pepsi insert was in great condition, still have it. I have just always wanted a 16710 that looked brand new. Hence the case restoration, new bracelet, and new insert. Had them all sent to LAWW for installation. The watch came on an oyster bracelet with lug holes. I liked both holes and no holes cases, so I wasn’t worried about obtaining one over the other. I did know that I wanted it on a period correct jubilee bracelet, as that combo always looks amazing in photos. Well almost twelve weeks to the day I received my 16710. Let me say, I finally get the hype. It is elegant, almost fragile in a way, but can definitely stand up to some wear. It’s quite a difference compared to the new GMTs in the obvious ways, but the way the watch flows is miles ahead of the new versions. The bezel, dial and hands all seem to be perfectly balanced in size, and the case and bracelet pair seamlessly. LAWW cannot be praised enough. Their work is magnificent, I sincerely don’t know how they do it. I think they must have magical elves working that can do things that aren’t possible to mere humans. The case restoration is amazing, really nice chamfers and sharp edges all around. Timing is excellent-they regulate to COSC, and mine is running +2 spd. I couldn’t be more happy with LAWW. I believe that if the married the best parts of the 16710 and the newer version, they could really perfect the new GMTs. But this is just one man’s opinion. Overall, I absolutely love this watch. It lives up to all the hype y’all have given it over the years. Now mine isn’t a safe queen. It isn’t all original or with B&P’s, but I wasn’t concerned about that. This is a watch that I will wear frequently throughout my life, and when I deem it prudent to gift it to a loved one, that is what I will do. As that is what I plan for all my watches. But this piece, I might not ever find a reason to let it go. It’s just perfect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Congrats! The 16710 is an amazing and beautiful watch! So versatile with the different bezel inserts and two bracelets. My favorite combo is pepsi and jubilee like yourself.

Undeniably the one that embodies equal vintage and modern aesthetic elegantly and gracefully, out of all the references (in my opinion of course).
Enjoy! |

Congrats! And I agree about the jubilee. Recently got mine serviced and added a period-correct jubilee… love it much better than the oyster.
