Picked up an old explorer 14270

Picked up this 1991 N serial explorer today.

The markers have become a nice colour of cream.

Loving the hollow link bracelet. Raised crystal and the overall light feel of the watch.

Keep exploring.

A spectacularly beautiful and good watch. Suitable for almost any occasion.

I love seeing all the newer posts about the 14270/114270 and more. I feel there’s so much history and character in the neo-vintage world.
When you wear a watch like the explorer you just put it on and sometimes forget it’s there whilst “exploring”. Even if sometimes are explorations are in office environments

Is that a sub clasp or am I completely wrong? It looks pretty long.

Every once in awhile you see one with a 93150. I believe it was optional back in the day- same with 16570.

It was. I think I’ve even seen this in print from Rolex.

Thank you all for the comments. There is something very enjoyable about the 5 series Rolex watches which is missing in the new 6 series.

The bracelet jingly jangly noise.

The raised crystal.

The patina.

The thinner lugs

Hollow links

Vintage looking clasp

In my eyes it's more proportionate.

Keep exploring guys.

Agreed, although I do prefer working lume and SELs, so I went 114270, which is a 5-digit watch in all but name.

Looks great! All you’ll ever need in a watch.

I’ve owned both the 5 and current iteration Explorer, and while I enjoy the new one, there’s something more charming about the 5 digit iteration. I also like that the 3-6-9 is not as bold in the 1 and 11 series.
