Owned this Santos longer than any other watch, usually wear it when I need to fly under the radar or traveling abroad to less safe countries. Been a workhorse for almost 7 years, never any issues, never needed service.

Would LOVE a Cartier Crash one day...

Thanks for starting this thread. Actually was at the boutique a few days ago and tried in the new asymetrique. Stunning but would prefer in platinum and they didn’t have. I’ve inquired about having a custom piece made. Fingers crossed Paris approves.

I also expressed interest in the skeleton version. I’m generally not a fan of open work movements but I think they executed this years version wonderfully. Could anyone enlighten me on feasibility?

In the meantime, enjoy the below

If you have a persistent Cartier SA, they’ll find one for you. Just work with them and give them a slight nudge - a lot of Cartier watches are sub $10k so this is a big ticket sale for them

I thought the asymetrique was a sold out limited edition. Glad to hear it's still out there. Let us know if you hear back from Paris. I have always wanted to make a unique Tank.

I heard back from the boutique that there is no issue with what I’ve requested. From what I was told the process is quite long, though I will find immense joy in every step of the way.

Request was for a salmon guilloche dial in platinum. Here’s a mock-up

That looks amazing! May I ask if you have significant purchase history from them to approve this?

Thank you

I initially called inquiring about Privee collection availability. After hearing back there was a pink gold Asymetrique I made an appointment. After trying it on I inquired whether custom was a possibility. The SA said it wouldn’t hurt to ask Paris and instructed me to outline what I wanted—within a few weeks he let me know corporate had approved.

This was my first time dealing with Cartier and have to say I am very pleased. There are no games or jumping through hoops. Their market is more niche than PP, Rolex, VC at the moment but is gaining momentum from collectors (particularly, their early 2000s Privee collection which is what originally drew me to the look at Cartier more). Personally, I find their watches beautiful and with significant history behind each reference.

I am a buyer and highly recommend others if you don’t want to deal with the BS of other brands

Wow that's great news!

May I ask who you talked to, and what boutique?

I'd like to inquire about something as well.

I'm sure there is a cost for this, did they give you any details?

Like maybe you'd pay retail plus 50% more or so?

Thanks!

The above is not mine, but someone I know has commissioned a Tank LC in platinum, with salmon dial and Breguet hands. The projected cost is more than twice the price of the standard large model in rose gold. Granted he has changed the case metal, dial and hands. He had originally heard about 50% more, but the more you modify, the more costly I believe it becomes. Consult with a sales associate at a boutique and they can put in a request for you and then you will get accurate information about what whether they will make what you want, and the cost of doing so. The guy I know was told it will take about a year before his watch is ready, but he had a lot of fun considering the style of dial, the numerals, the hands, etc.
