What’s availability like for ladies models? (UK)
Hey folks,
We’re looking to get something around 31mm.. Datejust, oyster perpetual, maybe even a lady Datejust, perhaps a tad small for her at 28mm though. Open to different dials, metals, even a bit of diamond setting even. I know until recently these sorts of watches were fairly easily available but is that still the case? I’m on ‘the list’ at our local AD for a BLNR & an Exp2 polar. Is it worth trying to nudge the sa into committing to getting me one of these pieces if we do go for a spur of the moment ladies watch? Or shall I just be grateful to get the ladies piece?! Haven’t bought anything from the AD for a good few years so not sure what to expect / how to play things. Cheers guys |

SA probably won't commit to a BLNR / Explorer II on you buying a ladies' Rolex (unless it's totally encrusted with diamonds and made of gold).
Add the ladies' Rolex on your wishlist and I'd expect it to be easier to be allocated the BLNR / Explorer II once the ladies' Rolex has been made available / purchased. |

I doubt it will make much difference. The situation is pretty bad and you will wait roughly 3-6 months for the ladies DJ. In a similar position for YG MOP 28mm

Cheers guys, thanks for the responses. I suppose the best thing to do will be see what they think they can supply in a reasonable timeframe without hoping for any advantage on the Exp or GMT

Try Pragnell or Covent Garden ADs!. I got offered Pepsi on the same day but you have to purchase diamonds!

I tried goldsmiths in Meadowhall a couple of weeks back - response was no chance for even OP or DJ lady size ( I was asking for 2 for both my daughters ) - I am sure by the autumn the response will be different

I would not bother with Goldsmiths in general. My go to place is Rolex in Leeds

I registered interest for a 31mm OP in silver at my local Goldsmiths and was offered a 28mm silver straight away "from the back". I decided to hold out for the 31mm. So it seems to depend on luck. Maybe try a few ADs, you might get lucky if they have one that isn't allocated.
I registered at two other local ADs, both had nothing in store to purchase but were confident they could get it for me within 12 months and more likely 6. They were seemingly honest when they said they had none in but neither did they have much of a waiting list for the smaller OPs and datejusts, so I'd get it more or less as soon as they got my preference in - though this might take a while. They said they don't know what is due to come in each shipment until a few days before. We'll see! Obviously different for the more popular 31mm dials (candy pink, turquoise etc). I didn't even ask about those. (I don't want them either which helps...) However I really didn't get the feeling they needed to offload women's models, so doubt it would help towards a sought after piece in the current climate. |
