It has potential, but only if it is the real deal.

The caseback has me questioning the authenticity of this offering.

I’m not sure what your concern is about the caseback. The watch looks okay to me, it’s well used, though, and shows it. Nice starter Rolex if the price is right, but plan for a service.

My concern re the caseback was that there appears to be no script at all on it.

Watch looks fine, albeit well worn/used. The outside of the case-back is sterile (no script/writing/logos), as it should be.
There are a few Rolex models with engravings/stampings on the outer case-back, but this is not one of them.
