Attempted Watch Robbery London

A Bugatti Chiron driver reportedly wearing a platinum Daytona was attacked by 2 mopeds armed with both a machete and hammer. Seems to have made a safe get away.

Same “Deliveroo” attackers linked to 2 other thefts earlier in the day in Mayfair.

It’s even scary to know that they did in broad daylight. I’m glad the owner is safe but oh the trauma

Not from London, but love statistics.

These incidents are anecdotal. Even if we read about 20 watch robberies in one week, there are quite literally millions of Rolex watches out there, on the wrists of people roaming the streets. The statistical likelihood something will happen to you for your watch is astronomically low.

Insure your watch, think like a statistician, and live your life. Otherwise sell them, or live in fear of a potential event that will likely never occur.

if the police think like you, this kind of robbery would never stop.

During Summer, the Arabs like to come to London to get away from the heat.
It looks like the driver was one of these summer visitors.

They used to fly their cars over for the few months, now a lot just buy and register hypercars in the UK and leave them here rather the moving back and forth.

The location of the robbery is on Park Lane or the corner of The Hilton Hotel. The Hypercars, not just Arab owned, are driven by their owners to central london to flex their cars on the weekends and this corner is part of their loop. If you want more info, just google supercars in london, there are loads of vloggers.

This is not the first time this type of robbery has been attempted in London but it hasn't been seen in the news for a while. The last time was high profile attack on a British Personality in an affluent residential area of london.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/...-torn-12646973

Those who are happy to wear their Rolex without a care around the world... I applaud you.

Quote from Mayor Khan: "I’m afraid this summer we are seeing what we feared, which is an increase in violent crime… there are longer daylight hours, school holidays, a heatwave and so forth.

"We are working with the police to suppress that violence."

Well Mr Mayor if this is what you feared why didn't you get ahead of the curve?

Ok Middle Eastern bloke in £3m car gets robbed. Been happening for 30 years or more.. Families gather across a few hotels in Knightsbridge & Kensington every year and have these cars shipped over. They attract all sorts of attention.
The difference is the availability of recording devices, the ability of social media to spread the story & locate potential targets if they’re that stupid, and the fact that as a news story it’s become relevant.
9 million Londoners don’t drive Hypercars and didn’t get robbed.

With visitors I bet there was about 12m people in London that day so I agree with the previous poster about stats. You have more chance of being run over or something similar. I wear my watches in London, I live in London. I don't however fart around Park Lane in a Bugatti looking for attention with one on. If I did, I would pay for security to be with me whilst I was waving my private parts at the rest of society.

Just saying.......

I would like to add to the above mentioned facts that in this case even the window replacement will not be cheap, easy, or quick.

Well if one wants to blend in, sounds like they had the car to do that. Hard to imagine they got spotted and that others may think they had a few bucks.

The combination of an ineffectual Mayor and a corrupt and inept police force has turned London into a Third World capital city.

Damage to the car looks more expensive than the watch.

A shame he can’t just crank the wheel right and punch it in reverse.

Honestly if you’re peacocking hard with a Bugatti don’t be surprised if criminals find you. You’re basically flying a flag that says rob me I’m loaded.

I’m surprised there’s not more car moped fatalities in London if this is their tactic of choice. Taking on a car while on a moped seems a little bit of a mismatch.

This isn't about ''is it safe and can I wear my watch in xxx''. It shows criminal behaviour in broad daylight that shouldn't be tolerated.

Criminals don't care anymore. They aren't getting caught and if they do they aren't punished hard enough.

I’m from London. These stories sell papers or get more clicks online. London isn’t that bad. The other morning, 7am, I’m on the rattler, bloke next to me has a BLNR on Jubilee on. Short sleeve shirt. Not one person even looked up or gave a monkey about the watch he was wearing. There are literally ten of thousands of Rolex’s worn in London every day.

The HyperCars around Knightsbridge have always been a nuisance to the area. Tearing around in first gear in a 20mph zone. The Met Police even have tougher rules regarding this to try combat it. This kind of attention attracts the wrongun’s to the area.

Regarding the tougher sentences for these low life robbing scum, yes I fully agree. Lock them away for 15 years and they’ll think twice. Most of the time, you won’t catch a stolen moped around London. When they get to their estate, you’ve got no chance.

Well, it won’t ever stop. You cannot stop this type of crime. Plus, the reason it’s not more widely discussed is because these are not as common as the internet would make you think.
