Interesting Architecture....
I remember back in the early 1980 when walking though the West Edmonton Mall and thinking that humans really could live in an indoor artificial environment on the moon or polluted planet. Possibly not someone who had experienced todays Earth but someone born into that reality.
It had the obvious array of hundreds of stores, theaters, restaurants etc but also had a mini disneyland, a massive beach and "ocean" that had waves to surf on, mini-subs to explore an underwater environment, a hockey rink (of course) and a lot of other features. https://www.wem.ca/ Anyways here's an interesting futuristic idea: https://newatlas.com/architecture/du...ace/#gallery:1

Jetsons?
But I think Blade Runner or Fifth Element would be closer to the reality.

It is fun to think about. If you think about how massive and dangerous space is and how minuscule Earth really is in the grand scheme of things, we are already living in some little "Earth bubble" being protected by magnetic fields, ozone etc...

Kind of like Las Vegas, the network of casinos, and the windowless Caesar’s Palace Forum Shops. You can be indoors in Vegas for days and not really notice. The shops have a painted sky on the ceiling. It’s all designed to keep you inside and gamble without regard to time.

We were supposed to already be there by now.
But, you know, silly humans and their 'conflicts' that waste time, obliterating good resources, and talent. When i watch the live ISS feed, i don't see countries, religions, ideologies.... i see a planet of living creatures, and yes ill-conceived 'economies' based on consumption instead of enhancement, exploration, and pushing humans' creation and abilities further towards the 'limits' of what is possible. Ah well, perhaps the other planets with living entities are smarter than those living on what we choose to call planet Earth.

Hold a simple glass water tumbler in your hand and you will be amazed by the technology that transformed a handful of sand into a vessel to wet your thirst. Technology is creativity, and consumption drives technology. |

Then the early Christian teaching of the 7 Deadly Sins. Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride. Over consumption falls into these categories. Over consumption is what happens when an ecosystem can no longer sustain the use of its resources

Or the statement that there are enough resources for everyone's need but not for everyone's greed. Perhaps we all need a wake up call now and again. Maybe an alarm watch???

Over consumption is not the evil. Under recycling is the evil. Most of what is in the landfill could have been repurposed in some way if there was a cost effective method. Finding the cost effective method to eliminating discarded resources is the path to the promised land. |

The search/craving/need for "stuff" warps people. It becomes a treadmill they can't get off. Often times it takes a tragic event for an eye opening epiphany to transform someone. Because the thing with greed is that enough is never enough. Again, the moderation thing comes in play.
