Hotly Debated Japan Edition TOG 116263 - Just Arrived

Just arrived from Tokyo! Have been enamored by this piece and the mystery around it for a while. Only 600 ever made with the green seconds hand and green font, 300 white dials, 300 black. I feel like this is an under-appreciated grail piece...Rolex almost never does limited production pieces and something about the green seconds hand and font is just so perfect. I'm taking it to RSC tomorrow to authenticate, but as past TRF threads have proven, this is was a totally legit production. Let's hear your thoughts!

Very nice but alas the green doesn't show up in the photos!

Great to see something a bit different on here!

The TOG is a great piece - I always wished Rolex kept it in the catalogue - and the Japanese edition just gives it that extra something.

I remember when this was released and someone picked up a black dial.. I’m sure you can still find the thread. However, I’ve never heard about an actual production count. Where did this info come from?

Neat piece. I didn’t know there was a second Rolex with a green date wheel. Very cool.

I question the production count being so specific. That kind of thing seems like it tends to be unknown or speculation in the Rolex world

I trust the seller 100%, it's a reputable dealer in Tokyo. I meant that, with naysayers always saying this wasn't an LP or it's after-market, I want RSC's written authentication to pair with it.

Good luck with that.

I think the best you could do is a 200 dollar "authentication" that will say nothing more than it is a Rolex.

Congrats! TOG is a great choice for an all around watch. Much better than the Sub for most.

Quite true the limited addition of the new 2012 TOG for the Japanese only market. I remember this well as they were reported on forum as all Fxxxxxx and Dxxxxxx serials. And many on forum said they were old stock as they should be random serials now that did bring a smile to my face..

If you get a change in lighting it would be good to see a better contrast of the hand color
