You set the price you want to insure your watches for and they give you a rate. Super easy to do online, took all of 15 minutes for my watches. My yearly rate is right at 1.2% of insured value.

USAA is about half that, but most people can't get USAA.
Also, for Hodinkee, I think it's Chubb underwriting. Which is a good thing - if not for USAA, I would go for one of these. IMO with Hodinkee/Chubb is the best thing going for folks that can't get USAA. Also, from what my friends tell me, Hodinkee/Chubb really know how to insure watches and assign value. |

They do not assign value, you choose the value you want to insure your watches for and pay accordingly. But yes, they are a great when it comes to insurance.

Don’t they stop at 10k if not on a home owners policy?

HODINKEE (Chubb) - previously was with Jewlers mutual but many recommendations for Hodinkee here so I switched as it was easier to assign value to some of my more difficult to replace pieces.

Hodinkee needs to make the insurance available for Canadian residents, at this time...its not. I wonder how long it may be before they offer insurance to Canadians

I use State Farm, which is a rider to my home owners insurance. It is cheaper than Hodinkee, but not as forgiving. I insured them for what I paid and the rate was <1%, but when I tried to increase the stated value, the rate when up over 2%.

Did you offer a current appraisal? That might help you get the % back down lower

State Farm to JM to Hodinkee. Never been happier. Great product and underwritten by Chubb as said above. Modern and easy.

Hodinkee. It's awesome. I had an accident with a datejust, the crystal was shattered some glass went into the movement and the dial and hands were scratched. I called Chubb, which is who hodinkee uses, filed a claim and all they needed were pics of the watch and the estimate of the repair from my AD/Jeweler. I went ahead and had the watch fixed while they were approving the claim, a few days later the check came in the mail for the full amount. So overall, I'm very happy with hodinkee. Just a side note, they were also willing to take the watch and give me cash value for it, you just need to provide an appraisal or an online comp. Hope that helps.

Wowzers that’s awesome Makes me feel even better if I have to use them for a claim I had my 515 and a 126610 with Chubb and literally just added another 5 that were on my home owners. Cheaper and easier as well. It’s wild how easy they insured over 200k

Additionally, they offered you actual cash value of the watch in what condition? Was it the ACV of the watch in the damaged condition or in “normal” condition? |

If you have multiple watches (or just a lot of valuables), I highly recommend considering a security or even a high-security safe.
I use a high-security safe + JM. Can't speak to the claims or customer service though, as I have never needed them. |
