Help me with identifying my watch!

Dear fellow enthusiasts,

Can you help me to identify the model of Rolex my father gave to me years ago? I think it may be a 1960s model. I'm attaching a poor (and backward!) pic of the watch. Also, as I seek out this model or one like it, I've found I have two questions I'd love to pick your brains on!

1) What does it mean if the word DATE on the dial has a small dash on either side of the word?
2) I have finally found watches that look very similar to mine. They sometimes have an additional designation RA243 or RA 203, for example. I figure that the RA means Rolex Automatic, but I'm not sure how these numbers correlate to a model or year or something else.

The closest I could find is a big bright photo I'm including here, too. I found it on eBay and it is listed as a Mens Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 1500 35mm 1960s Automatic Vintage Swiss RA203.

Thank you in advance for your help! I'm attaching a photo of my watch to help!

Nick

I think you need a better picture of your watch....focus and lighting would help.

The reference number and serial number are located on the watch case, under the bracelet.
The serial number can provide an approximation of the age.
Good luck

Thank you both! I should have mentioned it's an old photo - I no longer own the watch. Do you happen to know what RA-numbers mean? Thank you again!
