Hulk for Daytona Oysterflex

Love my 2018 Hulk 116610LV but been considering trading it in + cash for a Daytona Oysterflex 116515/116518 in the grey market. I also have an AP 15500 and would like to add a nice watch with a sports band like the Oysterflex in the collection.

Thoughts on the move?

I would say YES! Although I suspect many people on TRF would say NO.
OF Daytonas are one of the most comfortable watches to wear.

Depends how much cash, that can easily make a "yes" into a "no"
Without that number, hard to tell.

That aside I would likely do it because I don't like the 116610LV but that's just one person's opinion.

WG Daytona beats Hulk. Both great, but it is what it is. The $ difference is your issue, but from a watch perspective both are great, but one is still a bit better. Just my .02.

Money aside, totally different watches. A Daytona IMO is a whole ‘nother thing than any Submariner. I’d do it without hesitation…money aside.

Did you buy the Hulk grey of from an AD? I’d keep the Hulk and wait for that call from an AD. If not, let prices cool down then do it.

Daytona on OF is a beautiful watch, and would definitely be a great one to own! My personal choice would be the 116515, Everose with a Chocolate dial.

If I were you though, I would try to ADD the Daytona to your collection and keep the Hulk too. You mentioned that you do love the Hulk, so I suspect there will be some regret down the road if you traded it in. I know I would regret it!

Not sure if you have any other watches in your collection, but if you only had the OF Daytona and your AP, neither one of those might not make a great daily. Hulk can be dressed up or down and works well as a daily!

I would keep the Hulk. You can always get a Daytona Oysterflex 116515/116518 down the road, and hopefully at MSRP. I think the Hulk will only continue to go up in value and become more scarce as supply dries up over the years.

The Daytona is smaller, less visually interesting finishing (a boring all polish case vs the brush and polish on the hulk) and is 75% rubber. Even in terms of comfort I found the Sub bracelet much more comfortable due to glidelock. I would definitely not do it. Not much of an upgrade at all unless you value the chronograph in your day to day.

All day not even in the same league. My OF Daytona is my favorite watch in the collection and the one I wear most.

Don't do it. There is nothing special about a daytona on oyster flex. It is a literal cash cow for Rolex and not that hard to get.

The Hulk was the first of its kind and impacted the entire watch industry. You'll never have "yours" again if you sell it.

I'll repeat the same thing I always do when these threads come up: First, try going to an AD and seeing what kind of trade-in value they'll give towards a brand new OF Daytona.

Only thing I'll add, that I'm sure isn't too helpful, is that if I were going to a PM/OF watch, I'd personally gravitate towards the 126655. Similar functionality to Sub, and I personally like the look more than the Daytona.

No. But that's because I don't like the Daytona. There's no objective angle on what you are proposing. All I'll add is that unless there was a pressing need, I would not part with something I loved, such as the 116610LV.

I would keep the Hulk and add AP ROC 26240OR later instead of PM Daytona.

I know the feeling when you love a watch but still look for another one. I would do it because you apparantly want the daytona. You can’t go wrong with the daytona, nor with keeping the hulk.
